1. Important Safety Information

Please read all instructions carefully before assembling and using this bunk bed. Keep this manual for future reference.

• Maximum Weight Capacity: The top bunk is designed for a maximum weight of 175 lbs (79 kg). The bottom bunk is designed for a maximum weight of 250 lbs (113 kg).
• Age Recommendation: The top bunk is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
• Guardrails: Always use the guardrails on both sides of the upper bunk. Ensure they are properly installed and secured.
• Ladder Safety: Always use the ladder for entering and exiting the upper bunk. Do not use substitute climbing devices.
• Mattress Size: Use only mattresses that are 74-75 inches long and 37.5-38.5 inches wide for the twin beds. The maximum mattress thickness for the top bunk should not exceed 6 inches to ensure proper guardrail height.
• Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the bed.
• Assembly: Two adults are recommended for assembly. Do not use power tools for assembly as this may overtighten fasteners and damage the wood.
• Regular Checks: Periodically check and ensure that all connections are tight and secure.

3. Setup and Assembly Instructions

Follow these steps carefully for proper assembly. Lay out all parts on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratching.

3.1. Dimensions Overview

Refer to the diagram below for the overall dimensions and key measurements of the bunk bed.

3.2. Choosing Installation Method

This bunk bed offers two primary installation configurations to suit your room layout. Decide which option best fits your space before proceeding with assembly.

3.3. Step-by-Step Assembly

1. Unpack and Identify Parts: Carefully unpack all components and hardware. Refer to the parts list (not provided in this document, typically in a separate sheet) to identify each piece.
2. Assemble Bed Ends: Attach the headboards and footboards to the vertical posts for each of the four bed sections. Ensure all bolts are finger-tight at this stage.
3. Connect Side Rails: Attach the side rails to the assembled bed ends. Pay attention to the orientation for the upper and lower bunks.
4. Form the L-Shape: Connect the individual bed frames to form the L-shaped configuration you selected in Section 3.2. Ensure the connecting brackets are securely fastened.

5. Install Slats: Place the wooden slats across the bed frames. Secure them using the provided screws or fasteners. Ensure the support straps are correctly positioned and attached to maintain slat spacing.

6. Attach Guardrails: Install the full-length guardrails on the upper bunk. Ensure they are firmly attached to the bed posts.

7. Install Ladders: Attach the two ladders to the designated positions on the bunk bed. Ensure they are stable and securely fastened.

8. Final Tightening: Once all components are assembled, go back and securely tighten all bolts and screws using the provided Allen key. Do not overtighten.

4. Operating Instructions (Usage)

• Entering/Exiting Top Bunk: Always use the provided ladders to access or descend from the top bunk. Do not jump on or off the bunk bed.
• Guardrail Usage: Ensure guardrails are always in place and secure when the top bunk is in use.
• Weight Distribution: Distribute weight evenly on both bunks. Avoid concentrating weight in one area.
• No Horseplay: Prohibit rough play or jumping on the bunk bed.
• Lighting: Consider providing a night light near the ladder for safe nighttime use.

5. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Wipe down the bed frame with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the wood finish.
• Fastener Checks: Periodically (e.g., every 3-6 months) inspect all bolts, screws, and connections to ensure they remain tight. Tighten any loose fasteners to maintain stability and safety.
• Wood Care: The bed features a wood finish. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme temperature changes to prevent warping or cracking.
• Slat Inspection: Check the wooden slats regularly for any signs of damage or cracking. Replace damaged slats immediately.

6. Troubleshooting

• Squeaking Noises: If the bed squeaks, check all connections and tighten any loose bolts. Ensure the slats are properly seated and secured.
• Instability/Wobbling: This usually indicates loose fasteners. Re-tighten all bolts and screws. Ensure the bed is placed on a level surface.
• Missing Parts: If you discover missing parts during assembly, do not attempt to substitute with other hardware. Contact MERITLINE customer support for replacements.
• Difficulty Assembling: Review the assembly instructions carefully. Ensure all parts are oriented correctly. Do not force components together.
