Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your Klein Tools 94130 5-piece 1000V Insulated Tool Kit. Safety Information

All tools in this kit are 1000V rated for safety on the job and meet or exceed ASTM F1505 and IEC 60900 standards for insulated tools. Always inspect tools before each use. Do not use if insulation is compromised. Keep tools clean and dry. Destroy tools if insulation is damaged.

Three-Part Insulation

The pliers and wire stripper feature a unique three-part insulation system. A white underlayer is visible if the outer insulation is compromised, serving as a critical warning sign that the tool's protective barrier may be damaged and should not be used.

Insulation Testing

Setup and Operating Instructions

Before each use, visually inspect all tools for any signs of damage to the insulation. If any damage is observed, discontinue use immediately and replace the tool.

Using Screwdrivers

• Select the appropriate screwdriver tip (#2 Phillips or 1/4-Inch Cabinet) for the fastener.
• Ensure the screwdriver blade is flush with the insulation to prevent nicking the insulation during use.
• Apply firm, steady pressure and turn to tighten or loosen fasteners. The Cushion-Grip handle is designed for comfort and optimal torque.

Using Pliers and Wire Stripper

• Diagonal Cutters: Position the cutting edge over the wire or material to be cut. Squeeze handles firmly to cut.
• Side-Cutting Pliers: Use for gripping, bending, and cutting wires. Position the cutting edge over the wire and squeeze handles.
• Wire Stripper: Select the correct gauge hole for the wire (10-18 AWG solid, 12-20 AWG stranded). Insert the wire, close the handles, and pull to strip insulation. Use the shearing holes for 6-32 and 8-32 screws.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safety of your insulated tools:

• Regular Inspection: Always inspect the insulation for cuts, nicks, cracks, or any other damage before each use. Pay close attention to the white underlayer on pliers and wire strippers.
• Cleaning: Keep tools clean and free of dirt, grease, and moisture. Wipe them down with a clean, dry cloth after each use.
• Storage: Store tools in a dry environment, protected from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Avoid storing them with other tools that could damage the insulation.
• Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of light machine oil to the pivot points of pliers and wire strippers to maintain smooth operation.

Troubleshooting

• Tool Not Performing as Expected: Ensure the correct tool is being used for the task. For example, verify the wire stripper gauge matches the wire.
• Stiff Pliers/Cutters: Apply a small amount of lubricant to the pivot joint. If stiffness persists, inspect for debris or damage.
