2. Setup

2.1 Package Contents

2.2 Installing the Battery

  1. Turn the mouse over.
  2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the mouse.
  3. Slide the battery cover open.
  4. Insert one AA alkaline battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  5. Close the battery cover securely.

2.3 Connecting the USB Receiver

  1. Locate an available USB Type-A port on your computer (Windows OS, macOS, or Chrome OS).
  2. Remove the micro USB receiver from its storage slot on the bottom of the mouse, if it is stored there.
  3. Insert the micro USB receiver firmly into the USB port on your computer.
  4. Your computer should automatically detect and install the necessary drivers. This may take a few moments.

2.4 Powering On the Mouse

  1. Locate the power switch on the bottom of the mouse.
  2. Slide the switch to the 'ON' position.
  3. The mouse is now ready for use.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Basic Operation

  • Left Click: Primary button for selecting items and interacting with software.
  • Right Click: Secondary button for context menus and additional options.
  • Scroll Wheel: Scroll up or down through documents and web pages. Pressing the wheel often acts as a middle click.

3.2 Advanced Button Functions

This mouse features five buttons, including dedicated 'forward' and 'back' buttons for efficient web browsing and document navigation.

3.3 Customizing Buttons with ELECOM Mouse Assistant

You can customize the functions of each button using the free 'ELECOM Mouse Assistant' software. This software allows you to assign various functions to suit your workflow.

  1. Download the 'ELECOM Mouse Assistant' software from the official ELECOM website.
  2. Install the software on your computer.
  3. Launch the application and follow the on-screen instructions to customize button assignments.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning the Mouse

  • Ensure the mouse is turned off before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface of the mouse.
  • For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild cleaning solution. Avoid excessive moisture.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or aerosol sprays.
  • Clean the optical sensor area gently with a cotton swab if tracking issues occur.

4.2 Battery Replacement

The mouse is equipped with a battery level indicator lamp. When the lamp indicates low battery, replace the AA battery as described in Section 2.2.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Mouse Not Responding

  • Ensure the mouse power switch is in the 'ON' position.
  • Check if the battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
  • Verify that the USB receiver is securely plugged into a working USB port on your computer. Try a different USB port.
  • Move the mouse closer to the USB receiver to ensure it is within the wireless range.
  • Restart your computer.

5.2 Erratic Cursor Movement

  • Clean the optical sensor on the bottom of the mouse.
  • Ensure you are using the mouse on a suitable surface. While the BlueLED sensor works on various surfaces, highly reflective or transparent surfaces may cause issues. Try using a mouse pad.
  • Check for any obstructions between the mouse and the receiver.

5.3 Buttons Not Functioning Correctly

  • If you have customized button functions, ensure the 'ELECOM Mouse Assistant' software is running and configured correctly.
  • Test the mouse on another computer to determine if the issue is with the mouse or the computer's settings.
