1. Product Overview

The Pedrollo 2CPm2516C water pump is a horizontal centrifugal pump with two impellers, specifically designed for industrial water distribution and various agricultural applications. This pump is suitable for handling clean liquids without abrasive particles and non-aggressive to the pump components.

It is engineered for reliable performance within a liquid temperature range of -10 °C to +90 °C. The ambient temperature for the pump's storage and operation should not exceed 40 °C.

The pump body is constructed from robust cast iron with threaded ports, designed to withstand a maximum working pressure of 10 bar. It features durable brass impellers and a cast iron motor lantern. The electric motor operates at 2900 rpm, offering IPX4 protection, Class F insulation, and S1 continuous service. The IE3 class electric motor ensures high efficiency and low power consumption. For the single-phase 220V model, thermal protection is integrated to prevent overheating.

The coupling shaft between the impeller and electric motor is made of stainless steel EN 10088-3 - 1.4104, ensuring corrosion resistance and longevity. The standard mechanical seal, composed of carbon, ceramic, and nitrile, provides effective sealing between the pump body and electric motor. This seal set is replaceable, contributing to the extended lifespan of the water pump.

2. Safety Information

  • Always disconnect the pump from the power supply before any installation, maintenance, or repair work.

3. Setup and Installation

  • Ensure the ambient temperature does not exceed 40 °C.
  • Mount the pump on a stable, level surface to minimize vibration.
  • Allow sufficient space around the pump for ventilation and maintenance access.

3.3 Piping Connections

  • Use pipes of adequate diameter to minimize pressure loss.
  • Install a foot valve with a strainer at the end of the suction pipe to prevent debris from entering the pump and to maintain prime.
  • Ensure all connections are airtight to prevent air leaks, which can affect pump performance.
  • Support the piping independently to avoid placing stress on the pump's connections.
  • Install a gate valve on both the suction and discharge sides for isolation during maintenance.

3.4 Electrical Connection

  • Connect the pump to a 220V single-phase power supply.
  • Ensure the power supply matches the pump's specifications.
  • The pump must be connected to a circuit protected by a residual current device (RCD) and an appropriately rated circuit breaker.
  • All electrical work should be performed by a qualified electrician.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Priming the Pump

Before the first start-up, or if the pump has run dry, it must be primed:

  1. Ensure the discharge valve is closed.
  2. Open the priming plug (if available) or the highest point of the pump casing.
  3. Fill the pump casing and the suction line completely with clean water until no more air bubbles emerge.
  4. Close the priming plug securely.

4.2 Starting the Pump

  1. Ensure the pump is properly primed.
  2. Open the discharge valve slowly.
  3. Switch on the power supply to the pump.
  4. Monitor the pump for unusual noises or vibrations. If any occur, switch off immediately and investigate.

4.3 Stopping the Pump

  1. Close the discharge valve slowly.
  2. Switch off the power supply to the pump.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Regular Checks

  • Periodically check for leaks around seals and connections.
  • Inspect the power cable for damage.
  • Listen for unusual noises or vibrations during operation.
  • Ensure the motor's ventilation openings are clear of obstructions.

5.2 Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the pump regularly to prevent dust and dirt buildup, which can affect cooling.

5.3 Winterization (for non-permanent installations)

If the pump is not used during freezing temperatures:

  1. Disconnect the power supply.
  2. Drain all water from the pump and piping to prevent frost damage.
