Setup (Assembly)

Your MBM Boulevard bike may require some assembly upon arrival. Follow these steps carefully. It is recommended to have this assembly performed by a qualified bicycle mechanic if you are unsure.

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the bicycle and all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for potential returns or future transport.
  2. Handlebar Installation: Insert the handlebar stem into the fork steerer tube. Ensure the handlebar is centered and aligned with the front wheel, then tighten the stem bolt securely.
  3. Front Wheel Installation: If not pre-installed, attach the front wheel to the fork dropouts. Ensure the wheel is centered and the quick-release or axle nuts are tightened firmly.
  4. Pedal Installation: Identify the left (L) and right (R) pedals. The right pedal threads clockwise, and the left pedal threads counter-clockwise. Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tighten them securely with a pedal wrench.
  5. Seat Post and Saddle: Insert the seat post into the frame's seat tube. Adjust the saddle height to a comfortable riding position where your leg is slightly bent at the knee when the pedal is at its lowest point. Tighten the seat post clamp securely.
  6. Brake Adjustment: Check that both front and rear brakes engage properly and provide adequate stopping power. Adjust cable tension if necessary.
  7. Gear Adjustment: Verify that all 6 gears shift smoothly and without hesitation. Fine-tune the derailleur if needed.
  8. Tire Inflation: Inflate tires to the recommended pressure indicated on the tire sidewall.

Operating Instructions

Riding Your Bicycle:

  • Starting: Mount the bike, place one foot on a pedal, push off with the other foot, and begin pedaling.
  • Steering: Use the handlebars to steer. Lean gently into turns.
  • Braking: Apply both front and rear brakes simultaneously and smoothly. Avoid sudden, hard braking, especially with the front brake, to prevent skidding or losing control.
  • Shifting Gears: Your bike is equipped with a 6-speed Revo shifter. To shift, twist the grip shifter on the handlebar. Shift to a lower gear for climbing hills and a higher gear for flat terrain or descents. Shift gears smoothly while pedaling.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the safety and extends the lifespan of your bicycle.

Daily Checks (Before Each Ride):

  • Tires: Check tire pressure and for any cuts or punctures.
  • Brakes: Ensure brake levers are firm and brakes engage effectively.
  • Quick Releases/Bolts: Verify all quick releases and bolts (wheels, seat post, handlebars) are tight.

Weekly/Bi-Weekly Checks:

  • Chain: Clean and lubricate the chain.
  • Gears: Check for smooth shifting. Adjust if necessary.
  • Brake Pads: Inspect brake pads for wear. Replace if worn.
  • Bolts: Check all major bolts (crank, stem, seat post) for tightness.

Cleaning:

Clean your bike regularly with mild soap and water. Avoid high-pressure washers, which can force water into bearings. Dry thoroughly and re-lubricate the chain.
