The Meraki MR46 is a cloud-managed 4x4:4 802.11ax access point designed for high-performance wireless networks. It offers high throughput, enterprise-grade security, and simplified management, making it suitable for demanding environments such as offices, schools, hospitals, shops, and hotels.
This access point provides a maximum aggregate frame rate of 3.5 Gbps across concurrent 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios. 2. Package Contents

3. Setup and Installation
3.1 Pre-installation Checklist
- An active Meraki cloud license.

3.2 Physical Installation

3.3 Initial Configuration (Cloud Management)
The Meraki MR46 is managed entirely through the Meraki cloud dashboard. After physical installation and power-up, the device will attempt to connect to the Meraki cloud.
- Add to Network: Log in to your Meraki dashboard (dashboard.meraki.com). Navigate to 'Network-wide' > 'Add devices' and enter the serial number of your MR46.
- Assign to Network: Assign the device to an existing network or create a new one.
- Configure Settings: Once the device is online in the dashboard, you can configure SSIDs, security settings, VLANs, and other network parameters.
4. Operating the Meraki MR46
4.1 LED Indicator
The MR46 features an LED indicator on its front panel to provide status information:
- Solid White: Device is powered on and connected to the Meraki cloud.
- Flashing White: Device is booting up or attempting to connect to the Meraki cloud.
- Solid Amber: Device is powered on but cannot connect to the Meraki cloud.
- Flashing Amber: Device is experiencing a hardware fault.

4.2 Wireless Functionality
The MR46 supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) across both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, providing high-speed and efficient wireless connectivity. It also includes advanced features:
- WIDS/WIPS: A dedicated security radio continuously monitors the airwaves for threats and optimizes RF performance.
- Bluetooth: An integrated Bluetooth radio enables scanning and beaconing functionalities for location-based services and asset tracking.

- LED Solid Amber: The device is powered but cannot reach the Meraki cloud. Verify network connectivity, DNS resolution, and firewall rules.
- Poor Wi-Fi Performance: Check the Meraki dashboard for channel utilization, interference, and client distribution. Consider adjusting Wi-Fi channels or power settings.
- Device Not Appearing in Dashboard: Confirm the serial number was correctly added to your Meraki network. Ensure the device has power and network connectivity.
