5. Setup

Battery Installation

Each Lexibook TW58 Walkie-Talkie requires 4 x AAA batteries (not included).

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the walkie-talkie.
  2. Press down on the latch and slide the cover off.
  3. Insert 4 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.

Both walkie-talkies must be on the same channel to communicate.

  1. Press the MENU button once. The channel number on the LCD screen will flash.
  2. Use the Up/Down buttons to select your desired channel (1-8).
  3. Press the MENU button again to confirm your selection, or wait a few seconds for it to set automatically.

Transmitting and Receiving

Squelch Function

The squelch function automatically mutes weak signals and background noise, improving audio clarity. This feature is typically automatic and does not require manual adjustment.

"Roger" Beep

A "Roger" beep is an audible tone transmitted when the PTT button is released, signaling to the other party that you have finished speaking. This feature is usually enabled by default.

Flashlight Function

Ring Tones

You can send a ring tone to alert other users on the same channel.

  1. Press the MENU button twice. The ring tone number will flash.
  2. Use the Up/Down buttons to cycle through the 10 available ring tones.
  3. Press the PTT button to send the selected ring tone.
  4. Press the MENU button again to confirm your selection, or wait a few seconds for it to set automatically.

Hands-Free Function (VOX)

The hands-free (VOX) function allows you to transmit by speaking into the microphone without pressing the PTT button.

  1. Press the MENU button three times. The VOX icon and sensitivity level will flash.
  2. Use the Up/Down buttons to select the VOX sensitivity level (e.g., 1-3, with 3 being most sensitive) or turn VOX off.
  3. Press the MENU button again to confirm your selection, or wait a few seconds for it to set automatically.
