Setup: Installation Guide
WARNING: Risk of electric shock. Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician. Always turn off power at the main service panel before beginning any electrical work.
Pre-Installation Steps
- Ensure the main power supply to the load center is completely disconnected and verified with a voltage tester.
- Open the load center cover to access the busbar and wiring area.
- Identify the appropriate slot for the 2-pole breaker.
Wiring the Load Center
The Leviton Load Center is designed for efficient wiring. Branch phase and neutral connections are made directly on the panel, allowing for neat wire landing at rough-in without the need for breakers to be in the way.
- Connect the load wires (hot and neutral) from your circuit directly to the designated terminals within the load center.
- Ensure all connections are secure and tightened to the manufacturer's specifications.

Breaker Installation
The plug-on design of the Leviton LB230-T breaker simplifies installation, making it up to 25% faster than traditional methods. No additional wiring is required for the breaker itself once the load center is wired.
- Align the breaker with the busbar stabs in the load center.
- Firmly push the breaker onto the busbar until it snaps securely into place.
- Verify that the breaker is fully seated and stable.
Operating the Circuit Breaker
The Leviton LB230-T circuit breaker features a simple rocker-style switch for operation and clear color indicators for status.
- To turn the circuit ON, push the rocker switch to the "ON" position.
- To turn the circuit OFF, push the rocker switch to the "OFF" position.
- If the breaker trips due to an overload or short circuit, the switch will move to a central "TRIPPED" position, and the color indicator will change. To reset, first move the switch fully to the "OFF" position, then back to "ON".
The color indicators provide immediate visual status:
- Green: Indicates the breaker is in the "ON" position and the circuit is active.
- Red: Indicates the breaker has tripped due to a fault.
Maintenance
Leviton circuit breakers are designed for long-term reliability with minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks can help ensure continued safe operation.
- Visual Inspection: Annually inspect the circuit breaker for any signs of physical damage, discoloration, or loose connections.
- Dust Removal: Keep the load center interior clean and free of dust and debris. Use a dry, non-conductive brush or vacuum cleaner.
- Testing: While not typically required for standard thermal-magnetic breakers, if you have AFCI/GFCI breakers in your load center, test them monthly as per their specific instructions.
- Professional Inspection: Consider having a qualified electrician inspect your electrical system and load center every few years.
DO NOT attempt to open or repair the circuit breaker. Refer all repairs to qualified personnel.
Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter with your circuit breaker.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Breaker trips frequently. | Overloaded circuit, short circuit, or ground fault. | Unplug some devices from the circuit. If it continues, there may be a short or ground fault. Consult a qualified electrician. |
| Breaker will not reset. | Persistent fault (short circuit, ground fault) or internal breaker damage. | Ensure all appliances on the circuit are unplugged. If it still won't reset, the breaker or wiring may be damaged. Consult a qualified electrician. |
| No power to circuit, but breaker is ON. | Loose connection, faulty wiring, or main breaker tripped. | Check main breaker. If main is ON, consult a qualified electrician to inspect wiring and connections. |
