6. Operating Instructions

Initial Activation:

The X-Sense XS01 smoke alarm is activated automatically once it is mounted onto its bracket. The LED indicator will flash once every 60 seconds, indicating normal operation.

Testing the Alarm:

It is recommended to test your smoke alarm weekly to ensure proper functionality.

  1. Press and hold the Test/Silence button located on the alarm.
  2. The alarm will sound three long beeps, and the LED indicator will flash rapidly.
  3. Release the button. The alarm will stop sounding.
  4. If the alarm does not sound, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

Silence Feature:

The silence feature can temporarily quiet the alarm for approximately 9 minutes when a non-emergency condition (e.g., cooking smoke) causes a nuisance alarm.

  1. To silence a nuisance alarm, press the Test/Silence button.
  2. The alarm will enter silence mode, indicated by the LED flashing once every 5 seconds.
  3. After approximately 9 minutes, if smoke is still present, the alarm will reactivate.
  4. If the smoke has cleared, the alarm will return to normal operation.

Dust and debris can accumulate on the alarm and affect its performance. Clean your smoke alarm at least once a month.

When the battery is nearing the end of its life, the alarm will chirp once every 60 seconds, indicating it needs to be replaced.
