2. Safety Information

Your safety is paramount. Please read and understand all safety instructions before operating the pump.

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the pump is connected to a properly grounded outlet. Do not operate with wet hands or in standing water.
  • Thermal Overload Protection: The pump features built-in thermal overload protection. If the pump overheats, it will automatically stop and restart once it cools down. However, continuous dry running or operation without water flow can damage the motor.
  • Prevent Cavitation: Always prime the pump by filling the pump head and inlet pipe with water before starting to prevent air buildup (cavitation), which can damage the seals and impeller.
  • Water Flow: Do not leave the pump running if water is not flowing through it. This can lead to motor seizure and damage.
  • Installation Location: Install the pump in a clean, dry, and ventilated location, protected from freezing temperatures.

4. Setup

  1. Placement: Install the pump in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated area. Ensure adequate space for servicing and protection from freezing temperatures. Bolt the pump to a stable foundation, preferably concrete, and provide adequate drainage.
  2. Connections: The pump features 1-inch NPT (National Pipe Thread) inlet and outlet ports. You may need adapters for connecting to standard garden hoses.
  3. Inlet Hose: For the inlet, it is crucial to use a rigid suction/intake type hose. A standard garden hose may collapse under the pump's suction, restricting water flow.
  4. Outlet Hose: The outlet can be connected to a garden hose, or a Y-splitter with shutoffs for multiple connections.
  5. Pressure Gauge Installation: The included pressure gauge can be installed on the designated port on the pump head. Use the provided thread seal tape for a secure, leak-free connection.
  6. Priming the Pump: Before first use or after the pump has been drained, fill the pump head and inlet pipe completely with water. This prevents cavitation and ensures proper operation.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Ensure Proper Setup: Verify all connections are secure and the pump has been properly primed.
  2. Power On: Plug the pump into a grounded 115V power outlet. The pump features an ON/OFF switch for safe and convenient operation.
  3. Monitor Water Flow: Once powered on, the pump will begin transferring water. Observe the water flow and the pressure gauge (if installed).
  4. Continuous Operation: This is a continuous duty pump, meaning it can operate for extended periods without needing to be shut off, provided there is a continuous water supply.
  5. Avoid Dry Running: Never allow the pump to run without water flowing through it. This can cause severe damage to the motor and internal components. If water flow stops, immediately turn off the pump.

6. Maintenance

  • After Use: Always turn off the switch and drain all water from the pump after each use, especially before storing or in freezing conditions.
  • Regular Cleaning: Keep the pump exterior clean. Periodically check the inlet screen for debris and clear any blockages to maintain optimal flow.
  • Storage: Store the pump in a dry, protected area when not in use.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your LANCHEZ pump, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Pump does not start or stops unexpectedly. No power; Thermal overload activated; Motor seized.Check power connection. Allow pump to cool down if overheated. Ensure pump is primed and not running dry. If motor is seized, professional service may be required.
Low or no water flow.Pump not primed; Inlet hose collapsed/restricted; Clogged inlet screen; Air leak in suction line.Re-prime the pump. Use a rigid suction hose. Clean inlet screen. Check all connections for air leaks.
Unusual noise during operation.Cavitation (air in pump); Debris in impeller; Worn bearings.Ensure pump is fully primed. Check for and remove any debris. If noise persists, contact support.
