3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the walkie talkie is turned off.
  2. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the unit.
  3. Remove the belt clip if attached by sliding it upwards.
  4. Open the battery compartment cover by pressing the latch and lifting.
  5. Insert 4 AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  6. Close the battery compartment cover securely until it clicks into place.
  7. Reattach the belt clip if desired.

3.2 Attaching the Belt Clip

The included belt clip can be attached to the back of the walkie talkie for easy carrying. Align the clip with the grooves on the back of the unit and slide it down until it locks into place. To remove, push the release tab and slide the clip upwards.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Turning On/Off

  • To turn on: Press and hold the Power button icon Power button until the LCD screen illuminates.
  • To turn off: Press and hold the Power button icon Power button until the screen turns off.

4.2 Adjusting Volume

  • Use the Up (Up arrow icon) and Down (Down arrow icon) buttons to increase or decrease the speaker volume.

4.3 Selecting a Channel

  • Press the MENU button once. The channel number on the LCD will flash.
  • Use the Up (Up arrow icon) or Down (Down arrow icon) buttons to select your desired FRS channel (1-22).
  • Press the MENU button again to confirm your selection or wait a few seconds for it to set automatically.
  • Note: For communication, all walkie talkies must be set to the same channel and privacy code.

4.4 Setting Privacy Codes (CTCSS)

CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System) helps filter out unwanted conversations on the same channel.

  • Press the MENU button twice. The privacy code number will flash.
  • Use the Up (Up arrow icon) or Down (Down arrow icon) buttons to select a privacy code (1-99).
  • Press the MENU button again to confirm.

4.5 Transmitting and Receiving

  • To Transmit (Talk): Press and hold the Talk/Call button on the side of the walkie talkie. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the button when finished speaking.
  • To Receive: Simply listen. The walkie talkie will automatically receive signals when the Talk/Call button is not pressed.

4.6 VOX (Voice Operated Transmission)

VOX allows for hands-free communication. When activated, the walkie talkie will transmit automatically when it detects your voice.

  • Press the MENU button three times. The VOX icon and sensitivity level will flash.
  • Use the Up (Up arrow icon) or Down (Down arrow icon) buttons to select a VOX sensitivity level (1-3, with 3 being most sensitive) or turn VOX off (OF).
  • Press the MENU button again to confirm.

4.7 Using the LED Flashlight

  • Press the Lamp button icon Lamp button once to turn the flashlight on.
  • Press it again to turn the flashlight off.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the walkie talkie with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Battery Care: Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Storage: Store the walkie talkie in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Water Resistance: The device is water-resistant, but not waterproof. Avoid submerging it in water.

Static or unclear audio Weak signal, interference, or low battery. Move to an open area. Change channel. Check battery level.
Short communication range Obstructions (buildings, terrain), adverse weather. Move to an area with fewer obstructions. Range is affected by environment.
