1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the AEGIS Safe Box. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your new 1.6 Cubic Feet Fireproof Digital Keypad Security Steel Home Office Safe. Please read these instructions carefully before setup and use, and retain them for future reference.

2. Important Safety Information

To ensure safe operation and prevent damage, please adhere to the following safety guidelines:

• Fire Resistance: This safe is built with fire-resistant materials to withstand extreme temperatures up to 1400°F (760°C) for up to 30 minutes. While designed for protection, always consider additional fireproof bags for highly sensitive documents.
• Installation: Ensure the safe is installed on a stable, level surface. For maximum security, utilize the pre-drilled holes and included mounting bolts to secure the safe to a floor or wall.
• Do Not Drill Internally: WARNING: DO NOT DRILL FROM ANY LOCATION INSIDE THE SAFE. Drilling internally can compromise the safe's fireproof and security features.
• Emergency Keys: Keep the emergency keys in a secure location away from the safe. Do not store them inside the safe.
• Batteries: Use only 4x 1.5V AA Alkaline batteries (not included) for the electronic keypad. Replace batteries promptly when the "LOW" indicator lights up.
• Children: Keep children away from the safe and do not allow them to play with the keypad or keys.

5. Setup and Installation

Your AEGIS Safe Box comes ready for use, but for enhanced security, it is recommended to bolt it down to a floor or wall.

5.1 Battery Installation

1. Open the safe door using the emergency key (if not already open).
2. Locate the battery compartment on the inside of the door.
3. Insert 4x 1.5V AA Alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
4. Close the battery compartment cover.

5.2 Securing the Safe (Optional but Recommended)

The safe has pre-drilled holes for secure mounting. Follow these steps:

1. Unlock the safe and open the door.
2. Look to the bottom or the back of the safe for two indentations (pre-drilled holes).
3. Use a screw to mark the floor or wall through these holes.
4. Move the safe aside to clear both marked spots for drilling.
5. Drill into the floor or wall at the marked locations.
6. Replace the safe in the desired position, with the holes in the safe aligned with those in the floor or wall.
7. Pass each tap screw through a washer, then through the safe and into a masonry anchor.
8. Tighten with the wrench.

WARNING: DO NOT DRILL FROM ANY LOCATION INSIDE THE SAFE other than the designated pre-drilled holes. This can damage the fireproof lining and compromise security.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Setting Your Personal PIN Code

1. With the safe door open, press the "RESET" button located on the inside of the door (usually near the hinge or battery compartment). The keypad will beep, and the "PASS" light will illuminate.
2. Enter your desired 3-8 digit PIN code.
3. Press the "LOCK" button to confirm. The keypad will beep again, and the "PASS" light will flash, indicating successful programming.
4. Test your new PIN code with the door open before closing it.

6.2 Opening the Safe with PIN Code

1. Enter your 3-8 digit PIN code on the digital keypad.
2. Press the "LOCK" button. The "PASS" light will illuminate.
3. Within 5 seconds, turn the knob clockwise to open the safe door.

6.3 Using Emergency Keys

In case of forgotten PIN, dead batteries, or electronic malfunction, the emergency keys can be used:

1. Locate the emergency keyhole, usually hidden behind a small cover on the keypad panel. Slide the cover to reveal the keyhole.
2. Insert the emergency key and turn it counter-clockwise.
3. While holding the key turned, rotate the main knob clockwise to open the safe door.
4. Once open, you can replace the batteries or reset the PIN code.

6.4 Emergency Power via Type-C Port

If the batteries are completely dead and you cannot locate your emergency keys, you can power the keypad externally:

1. Connect a Type-C USB cable from a power bank (not included) to the Type-C port on the keypad panel.
2. The keypad will power on. Enter your PIN code as usual.
3. Once the safe is open, replace the internal batteries immediately.

6.5 Closing and Locking the Safe

1. Close the safe door firmly.
2. Turn the knob counter-clockwise until the bolts fully engage and the door is securely locked.
3. The safe will automatically lock after the door is closed and the knob is turned.

7. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Wipe the safe's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
• Battery Replacement: Replace the batteries annually or when the "LOW" battery indicator appears on the keypad to ensure continuous operation.
• Keypad Care: Keep the keypad dry and free from dust or debris.
• Interior: The upholstered interior can be gently vacuumed or wiped to remove dust.
