4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

Each MOICO T5 Walkie Talkie requires 4 AAA batteries (not included). To install the batteries:

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the walkie talkie.
2. Press down on the tab and slide the cover downwards to open.
3. Insert 4 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Replace the battery compartment cover by sliding it upwards until it clicks into place.

4.2 Powering On/Off

To power on the walkie talkie, press and hold the Power Button () located below the LCD screen until the screen illuminates. To power off, press and hold the same button until the screen turns off.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Communication

1. Ensure both walkie talkies are powered on and set to the same channel and CTCSS code.
2. To transmit, press and hold the Talk/Call Button (PTT button) on the side of the walkie talkie. Speak clearly into the microphone, holding the unit approximately 2-3 inches from your mouth.
3. Release the PTT button to listen for a response.

5.2 Channel Selection

Your walkie talkie has 22 FRS channels. To change the channel:

1. Press the MENU Button once. The channel number on the LCD screen will flash.
2. Use the UP/SCAN Button () or DOWN/MONITOR Button () to select your desired channel.
3. Press the MENU Button again or wait a few seconds for the selection to be saved.

5.3 CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System)

CTCSS tones help filter out unwanted conversations on the same channel. To set a CTCSS code:

1. Press the MENU Button twice. The CTCSS code will flash.
2. Use the UP/SCAN Button or DOWN/MONITOR Button to select your desired CTCSS code (01-99).
3. Press the MENU Button again or wait a few seconds to confirm.

5.4 VOX (Voice Operated Exchange) Function

VOX allows you to transmit without pressing the PTT button. To activate and adjust VOX sensitivity:

1. Press the MENU Button three times. The VOX icon and sensitivity level will flash.
2. Use the UP/SCAN Button or DOWN/MONITOR Button to select the sensitivity level (1-3, with 3 being the most sensitive) or turn VOX off (OF).
3. Press the MENU Button again or wait a few seconds to confirm.

5.5 LED Flashlight

To turn the built-in LED flashlight on or off, press the Lamp Button () located on the front panel.

5.6 Keypad Lock

To prevent accidental changes to settings, you can lock the keypad. Press and hold the MENU/LOCK Button () until the lock icon appears on the LCD screen. To unlock, press and hold the same button again.

5.7 Scanning

The scanning feature allows you to quickly find active channels. To activate scanning, press the SCAN Button (). The walkie talkie will scan through all 22 channels and stop on any active channel. To stop scanning, press the SCAN Button again.
