1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the assembly, setup, operation, and maintenance of your Tamiya JR Dual Ridge Jr. Mini 4WD Kit (Model 18096-000). The Dual Ridge Jr. features the advanced VZ Chassis, designed for high performance and easy assembly. Please read this manual thoroughly before beginning assembly to ensure correct construction and optimal performance.

2. Safety Information
Please observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the product:
- Recommended Age: This product is recommended for ages 14 and up. Adult supervision is advised for younger users.
- Small Parts: This kit contains small parts that may pose a choking hazard. Keep out of reach of small children.
- Tools: Assembly may require hobby tools such as nippers, screwdrivers, and files. Handle all tools with care to avoid injury.
- Batteries: Use only the specified batteries (2 x AA, not included). Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries. Insert batteries with correct polarity. Remove batteries when the model is not in use for extended periods.
- Operation: Operate the Mini 4WD in a safe environment, away from people, pets, and obstacles. Do not operate near water or in wet conditions.

4. Assembly Instructions
The JR Dual Ridge Jr. Mini 4WD kit features a snap-together assembly, requiring no glue. Follow the steps below carefully.
4.1. Chassis Assembly
- Attach the front and rear bumper units to the main VZ chassis frame. Ensure they snap securely into place.
- Install the battery terminals into their designated slots on the chassis. Ensure proper orientation for electrical contact.
- Mount the motor holder and switch lever onto the chassis.
4.2. Motor and Gearbox Installation
- Insert the included motor into the motor housing on the VZ chassis. Ensure the motor terminals align with the chassis terminals.
- Assemble the gear train according to the diagram provided in the kit's pictorial instructions. This typically involves attaching the pinion gear to the motor shaft and then installing the counter gear and final gear into the gearbox housing.
- Secure the gearbox cover.

4.3. Wheel and Tire Attachment
- Press the Super Hard Low-Profile Tires onto the 5-Spoke Silver-Plated Wheels. Ensure a snug fit.
- Insert the wheel shafts through the chassis's axle holes and attach the assembled wheels. Ensure the wheels spin freely.

4.4. Body Mounting and Decals
- Attach the Dual Ridge Jr. body to the VZ chassis. The body is designed to snap onto the chassis securely.
- Apply the included decals to the body according to the reference images on the box or the separate decal placement guide.

5. Setup
5.1. Battery Installation
Open the battery cover on the underside of the chassis. Insert two AA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align with the markings inside the battery compartment. Close the battery cover securely.
5.2. Pre-Operation Checks
- Ensure all screws are tightened and parts are securely attached.
- Check that the wheels rotate freely without obstruction.
- Verify that the motor spins when the power switch is turned on.
- Apply a small amount of Tamiya grease (sold separately) to the gears for smooth operation and reduced wear.
6. Operating
To operate your JR Dual Ridge Jr. Mini 4WD, simply place it on a flat surface or a Mini 4WD race track and turn the power switch to the 'ON' position. The car will begin to move forward. Mini 4WD cars are designed to run autonomously on specially designed tracks with guide walls.
Always ensure the track is clear of obstacles and people before operating your Mini 4WD. For optimal performance, ensure the track surface is clean and free of debris.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will extend the life and performance of your Mini 4WD kit.
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the chassis and body with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt. Use a small brush to clean hard-to-reach areas and around the gears.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply Tamiya grease to the gears and axle bearings to ensure smooth operation and reduce friction.
- Inspections: Regularly check for loose screws, worn tires, or damaged parts. Replace any worn or broken components promptly.
- Battery Care: Remove batteries if the model will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage. Store batteries in a cool, dry place.
8. Troubleshooting
