1. Important Safety Information

Please read all instructions carefully before using this electric fireplace insert. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or personal injury.

  • Ensure the power outlet voltage matches the product's requirements (120V).
  • Do not use this fireplace insert if the power cord or plug is damaged.
  • Keep combustible materials such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9 meters) from the front of the heater.
  • Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
  • This appliance is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces.
  • Always unplug the fireplace insert when not in use.
  • This unit is designed for supplemental heat and cannot be used as a main heat source.
  • The unit is designed to be plugged into a standard 120V outlet and CANNOT be hard wired.

3. Setup & Installation

The PuraFlame Klaus Electric Fireplace Insert is designed for straightforward installation. It can be placed directly on the floor or inserted into an existing fireplace opening.

Installation Steps:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the fireplace insert from its packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
  2. Placement: Position the fireplace insert on a flat, stable surface. If inserting into a fireplace opening, ensure the opening meets the required dimensions (refer to Figure 3.2).
  3. Clearance: Maintain a minimum clearance of 3 feet (0.9 meters) from the front of the unit to any combustible materials. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  4. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a standard 120V grounded electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords or power strips.

4. Operating Instructions

The PuraFlame Klaus Electric Fireplace Insert can be operated using the control panel on the unit or the included remote control.

Control Panel Operation:

  • Power ON/OFF: Use the main power switch located on the control panel to turn the unit on or off.
  • Flame Settings: Adjust the flame effect intensity and brightness using the dedicated flame control button. There are 3 flame settings available.
  • Heater Settings: Select between 750W (low heat) and 1500W (high heat) using the heater buttons.
  • Thermostat: Rotate the thermostat dial to set your desired room temperature. The heater will cycle on and off to maintain this temperature.

Remote Control Operation:

The remote control provides convenient access to all functions. Ensure batteries are correctly installed (2 AAA batteries required).

  • Power Button: Press to turn the unit ON or OFF.
  • Flame Button: Cycles through the 3 flame effects.
  • Crackling Sound Button: Cycles through the 6 available crackling sound effects.
  • Heater Buttons (750W/1500W): Activate the low or high heat settings.
  • Thermostat Buttons: Adjust the desired temperature up or down.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will help ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your electric fireplace insert.

  • Cleaning the Exterior: Unplug the unit before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Cleaning the Glass: For the glass door, use a soft cloth and a non-abrasive glass cleaner. Spray the cleaner onto the cloth, not directly onto the glass.
  • Dusting: Periodically dust the air intake and exhaust vents to ensure proper airflow and prevent overheating.
  • Log Set: The resin log set requires no special maintenance. If dusty, gently wipe with a dry cloth.
  • Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, unplug it and store it in a dry, dust-free location, preferably in its original packaging.

6. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your fireplace insert, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
