3. Setup and Installation
Before beginning installation, ensure your computer is powered off and unplugged from the wall outlet. Wear an anti-static wrist strap or frequently touch a grounded metal object to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage to components.
3.1. Installing the CPU
- Locate the LGA 1155 socket on the motherboard.
- Gently push down the load lever and pull it sideways to open the CPU socket retention frame.
- Carefully align the notches on your Intel LGA 1155 processor with the corresponding keys on the socket. Ensure the gold triangle on the CPU aligns with the triangle on the socket.
- Place the CPU gently into the socket. Do not force it.
- Close the retention frame and push the load lever back into its locked position.
- Apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste to the top of the CPU.
- Install the CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions, ensuring it is securely fastened.
3.2. Installing RAM (Memory Modules)
- Locate the two DDR3 DIMM slots on the motherboard.
- Open the clips at both ends of the DIMM slot.
- Align the notch on the DDR3 memory module with the key in the DIMM slot.
- Insert the memory module firmly into the slot until the clips snap into place. Ensure both clips are closed.
- For dual-channel operation, install memory modules in both available slots.
3.3. Connecting Power Supply
- Connect the 24-pin ATX main power connector from your power supply to the corresponding slot on the motherboard.
- Connect the 4-pin ATX 12V power connector (CPU power) from your power supply to the designated slot near the CPU socket.
3.4. Connecting Storage Devices (SATA)
- Locate the 4 SATA 3Gb/s (SATAII) ports on the motherboard.
- Connect one end of a SATA data cable to a SATA port on the motherboard and the other end to your hard drive or SSD.
- Connect the SATA power cable from your power supply to the storage device.
3.5. Installing Expansion Cards
- Identify the PCI Express x16 slot for a graphics card or the PCI Express x1 slot for other expansion cards.
- Remove the corresponding expansion slot cover from your PC case.
- Align the card with the slot and press down firmly until it is seated correctly. Secure the card with a screw to the PC case.
3.6. Connecting Front Panel and Rear I/O
Connect the front panel connectors (power switch, reset switch, HDD LED, power LED, front panel audio, USB ports) to their respective headers on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard diagram for exact pin assignments.

Figure 3.1: Rear I/O Panel of the Zebronics H61 Motherboard. This image shows the ports available at the back of the motherboard, including PS/2, VGA, HDMI, USB 2.0, LAN, and audio jacks.
- PS/2 Port: For legacy keyboard or mouse.
- VGA Port: For connecting to a monitor using a VGA cable.
- HDMI Port: For connecting to a monitor or display using an HDMI cable.
- USB 2.0 Ports: For connecting USB devices.
- LAN Port: For connecting to a network via an Ethernet cable.
- Audio Jacks: For connecting speakers, headphones, or microphones.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. First Boot
- After all components are installed and connected, close your PC case.
- Connect your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and power cable.
- Turn on the power supply switch (if applicable) and then press the power button on your PC case.
- The system should boot up. If it does not, refer to the Troubleshooting section.
4.2. BIOS Setup
The BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is firmware that initializes hardware during the booting process. To enter BIOS setup:
- During the initial boot sequence, repeatedly press the DEL or F2 key (the exact key may vary, check on-screen prompts).
- Within the BIOS, you can configure various system settings such as boot order, date/time, CPU/memory settings, and enable/disable integrated peripherals.
- Save changes before exiting the BIOS.
4.3. Driver Installation
After installing your operating system, install the necessary drivers for the motherboard's components (chipset, LAN, audio, etc.). These drivers are typically provided on a CD/DVD included with the motherboard or can be downloaded from the Zebronics official website.
5. Maintenance
- Dust Removal: Regularly clean dust from the motherboard and components using compressed air. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
- BIOS Updates: Periodically check the Zebronics website for BIOS updates. BIOS updates can improve system stability, compatibility, and performance. Follow the update instructions carefully to avoid damaging the motherboard.
- Cable Management: Ensure all cables are neatly routed and do not obstruct airflow within the PC case.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Power:
- Check if the power supply is connected correctly to the motherboard (24-pin and 4-pin connectors).
- Ensure the power supply switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Verify that the front panel power switch connector is correctly attached to the motherboard header.
- No Display:
- Ensure the monitor is connected to the correct video output (VGA or HDMI on the motherboard, or a dedicated graphics card).
- Check if the RAM modules are properly seated in their slots. Try reseating them.
- If using a dedicated graphics card, ensure it is fully seated in the PCIe slot and has auxiliary power connected (if required).
- Try booting with only one RAM stick.
- System Instability/Crashes:
- Check CPU and GPU temperatures. Overheating can cause instability.
- Ensure all drivers are installed and up to date.
- Run a memory diagnostic tool to check for faulty RAM.
- Verify that the power supply is sufficient for all components.
- Peripheral Not Detected:
- Ensure the device is properly connected to the correct port (USB, SATA, etc.).
- Check device manager in your operating system for driver issues.
- Test the peripheral on another system if possible.
