2. Setup

2.1 Unboxing and Component Verification

Carefully unpack all components from the box. Ensure the following items are present:

  • Magicard 300 Dual-sided printer
  • Bodno ID Software with Activation Code
  • 300 PVC Cards
  • ID Camera (Bodno A11 Photo ID Camera)

2.2 Software Installation

The Bodno ID Software is essential for designing and printing cards. It is compatible with Windows and macOS operating systems.

The Gold Edition includes advanced features such as 2D Barcodes and Auto Face Crop, in addition to all features found in Bronze and Silver editions.

2.3 Hardware Connection

  1. Power Connection: Connect the power cable to the printer and then to a power outlet.
  2. Data Connection: Connect the printer to your computer using the provided USB cable. Alternatively, for network printing, connect an Ethernet cable from the printer to your network router or switch.

  • Data Integration: Link queries to Microsoft Access databases with photo fields for automated card population.
  • Image Management: Utilize the Auto Face Crop feature for consistent photo placement.
  • Security Features: Implement 2D Barcodes for enhanced security and data encoding.
  • Visual Security: The Magicard 300 supports HoloKote visual security features, which can be configured through the software.

3.2 Printing Process

Once your card design is complete and data is populated, you can initiate the printing process.

  1. Ensure the printer is connected, powered on, and has sufficient cards and ribbon.
  2. In the Bodno Software, select the desired card design and the number of copies.
  3. Initiate the print command. The Magicard 300 supports dual-sided printing automatically.
  4. The printer will feed cards from the input hopper, print on both sides, and eject them into the output hopper (capacity: 70 cards).

Print Speed: The printer can produce color prints at approximately 23 seconds per card and grayscale prints at 6 seconds per card.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your Magicard 300 printer.

4.1 Cleaning the Printer

It is recommended to clean the printer periodically, especially after replacing ribbons or if print quality degrades. A cleaning kit (e.g., Magicard 3633-0053 Cleaning Kit) is available and typically includes cleaning cards and pens.

  • Refer to the printer's internal instructions for specific cleaning procedures using the cleaning kit.
  • Regularly clean the card path and printhead to prevent dust and debris accumulation.

The MC300YMCKO color ribbon is designed for 250 prints. The printer will indicate when the ribbon needs replacement.

  4. Close the printer cover.
