3. Operating Principles

The Deco X60 system utilizes advanced mesh WiFi 6 technology to deliver superior performance and coverage. Unlike traditional routers that broadcast WiFi from a single point, mesh systems use multiple units to create a unified network that blankets your entire home.

3.1 Whole Home Coverage & Capacity

A 2-pack Deco X60 system can cover up to 5000 sq. ft., effectively eliminating dead zones and buffering. With Wi-Fi 6 technology, it can connect up to 110 devices simultaneously, providing strong and reliable WiFi for all your connected gadgets.

3.2 Faster Speeds with Wi-Fi 6

Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) brings significant improvements in speed, capacity, and coverage compared to previous Wi-Fi standards. The Deco X60 supports AX3000 speeds, providing incredibly fast connections for demanding applications like 4K streaming and online gaming.

4.1 Parental Controls

HomeCare's Parental Controls allow you to manage, limit, and monitor internet usage for every person and device in your home. You can create unique profiles for family members and customize access based on age groups (Child, Pre-Teen, Teen, Adult). This includes blocking specific content categories, applications, or websites. You can also set time limits for internet access, such as blocking access during school nights or specific hours.

4.2 Antivirus

The built-in Antivirus feature safeguards every device on your network from malicious content and threats, ensuring a secure online environment.

4.3 Quality of Service (QoS)

QoS allows you to prioritize network traffic for specific devices or applications, ensuring optimal performance for critical tasks like streaming or gaming.

4.4 Guest Wi-Fi

Easily set up a separate guest Wi-Fi network to provide internet access to visitors without compromising the security of your main private network.

5. Performance Insights

The Deco X60 system significantly enhances network performance, providing faster and more reliable internet speeds compared to standard router setups. Each Deco unit features two Gigabit Ethernet ports, supporting wired Ethernet backhaul for even better speeds and allowing direct connection of devices like smart TVs or gaming consoles.

In tests, the Deco X60 system consistently demonstrated superior download and upload speeds, even in areas previously known for poor Wi-Fi reception. For example, in a direct comparison, the Deco system achieved download speeds of 629 Mbps compared to 525 Mbps from a standard Virgin Media box in the same room. In a studio office located directly above the main internet connection, the Deco system provided approximately 343 Mbps download speed, a substantial improvement over the 252 Mbps from the existing router.

6. Maintenance

The TP-Link Deco app provides comprehensive tools for managing and maintaining your mesh WiFi system. You can easily monitor connected devices, view monthly network reports, and track security status. The app also facilitates firmware updates for your Deco units, ensuring your system always has the latest features and security enhancements.

7. Troubleshooting

The Deco app simplifies troubleshooting by providing clear guidance and diagnostic tools. If you experience connectivity issues, ensure all Deco units are powered on and their LED indicators are solid green, indicating a healthy connection. For initial setup or persistent issues, try restarting your modem and Deco units. The app's "Test Internet Speed" feature can help diagnose connection problems and verify your network's performance.
