3. Setup and Assembly
The PARKSIDE PRTA 20-Li requires some assembly before first use. Follow these steps carefully.
3.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection
- Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
- Check for any shipping damage or missing parts.
- Dispose of packaging materials responsibly.

3.2 Handle and Shaft Assembly
- Attach the second handle to the main shaft. Ensure it is securely fastened and can be adjusted to a comfortable working position.
- Adjust the telescopic guide handle to your body height. Loosen the locking mechanism, extend or retract the shaft, and then secure the locking mechanism. The handle is continuously adjustable by approximately 24 cm.
3.3 Trimmer Head Adjustments
- Rotating Trimmer Head: The trimmer head can be rotated 0° and 180° for different cutting tasks. Consult your product's specific mechanism for unlocking and rotating the head.
- Cutting Angle Adjustment: The cutting angle can be adjusted to 5 different positions. This allows for versatile trimming, such as under benches or around obstacles. Adjust the angle by pressing the release button and setting it to the desired position.
3.4 Installing the Battery
- Ensure the trimmer is switched off and the safety switch is engaged.
- Insert a fully charged PARKSIDE X 20 V Team series battery into the battery compartment until it clicks into place.
- To remove the battery, press the release button and pull the battery out.
4. Operating Instructions
Before operating, ensure you have read and understood all safety instructions.
4.1 Starting and Stopping the Trimmer
- To start: Press and hold the safety switch, then press the ON/OFF trigger switch.
- To stop: Release the ON/OFF trigger switch. The safety switch will automatically disengage.
4.2 Trimming Techniques
- General Trimming: Hold the trimmer at a slight angle to the ground and move it in a sweeping motion. Use only the tip of the line for cutting to avoid motor overload and premature line wear.
- Edge Trimming: Rotate the trimmer head to the 180° position. Use the plug-in spacing roller to guide the trimmer along lawn edges for a clean cut.
- Around Obstacles: Utilize the foldable plant protection bar to prevent damage to trees, shrubs, and other delicate objects. Adjust the cutting angle as needed to reach difficult areas.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your grass trimmer. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance.
5.1 Cleaning
- After each use, clean the trimmer housing and cutting head with a damp cloth.
- Remove any grass clippings or debris from the ventilation slots to prevent overheating.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
5.2 Changing the Line Spool
The trimmer features an easy, tool-free spool change mechanism.
- Ensure the battery is removed.
- Press the release tabs on the spool cover and remove the cover.
- Lift out the empty spool.
- Insert a new spool, ensuring the line ends are threaded through the eyelets on the cover.
- Replace the spool cover, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
Two line spools are included with the product (one pre-mounted, one spare).
5.3 Storage
- Remove the battery before storing.
- Clean the trimmer thoroughly.
- Store the trimmer in a dry, frost-free location, out of reach of children and unauthorized persons.
