Important Safety Information

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, always follow these basic safety precautions.

  • Read all instructions before using the appliance.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
  • The food in the pot will keep in boiling without auto-shut off unless the water in the pot becomes dry when the switch stays at the "Boiling" position.
  • The appliance features boil-dry protection and over-heating protection. If activated, allow 1-3 minutes to reset.

Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
  2. Inspect: Check the appliance for any signs of damage. Do not use if damaged.
  3. Clean: Before first use, wipe the interior of the pot and the glass lid with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water. Dry thoroughly.
  4. Placement: Place the electric hot pot on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from flammable materials. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit.

The Stariver Electric Hot Pot offers multiple cooking functions controlled by a single dial.

General Operation:

  1. Ensure the hot pot is clean and dry before adding ingredients.
  2. Add desired ingredients (water, broth, food items) into the inner pot. Do not overfill.
  3. Place the glass lid securely on the pot.
  4. Plug the power cord into a standard 110V electrical outlet.
  5. Turn the control dial to your desired setting.

Control Dial Settings:

  • OFF: The appliance is powered off.
  • Heating (Variable): When the switch stays at any position between "Heating" and "Keep Warm":
    • If the temperature hits about 100°C (212°F), it will stop heating with the red light off.
    • If the temperature is lower than about 75-85°C (167-185°F), it will restart heating to keep the food warm with the red light on.
  • Keep Warm: Maintains a warm temperature for your food. This setting is part of the variable heating range.
  • Boiling: When the switch stays at the "Boiling" position:
    • The food in the pot will keep boiling without auto-shut off unless the water in the pot becomes dry.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your Stariver Electric Hot Pot.

  1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the appliance from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Interior Cleaning: Wipe the interior of the pot with a soft, damp cloth or sponge. For stubborn food residue, use a small amount of mild dish soap and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may damage the non-stick surface.
  3. Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the hot pot and the base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit or power cord in water or any other liquid.
  4. Lid Cleaning: The glass lid can be washed with warm, soapy water and rinsed thoroughly.
  5. Storage: Store the clean and dry hot pot in a cool, dry place.
  6. Dishwasher Safety: This appliance is NOT dishwasher safe.

Troubleshooting

Lid jumps or liquid overflows during boiling.Pot is overfilled; boiling too vigorously.Do not overfill the pot. Reduce the heat setting if boiling is too vigorous.
