Thank you for purchasing the SHARDOR CM515B 12-Cup Programmable Drip Coffee Maker. This manual provides important information for the safe operation, use, and maintenance of your coffee maker. Please read it thoroughly before first use and keep it for future reference.
Important Safety Instructions
- Read all instructions before operating the appliance.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
- Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
- Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.
- The carafe is designed for use with this appliance only. It must never be used on a range top.
- Do not place a hot carafe on a wet or cold surface.
- Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe having a loose or weakened handle.
- Do not clean carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive material.

Setup and First Use
- Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and components from the box.
- Clean: Wash the carafe, lid, and reusable mesh filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
- Initial Rinse: Before brewing coffee, run two full cycles with only water to clean the internal components.
- Fill the water reservoir to the MAX line with fresh, cold water.
- Place the empty carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
- Press the ON/OFF AUTO button to start a brew cycle.
- Repeat this process once more.
- Set Clock: Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet. The digital display will show "AM 12:00".
- Press the HOUR button to set the current hour.
- Press the MIN button to set the current minute.
- Ensure the AM/PM indicator is correct.
Operating Instructions
Brewing Coffee
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water to the desired level using the water level indicator. Do not exceed the MAX line.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable mesh filter into the brew basket. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of ground coffee per cup. Close the lid securely.
- Position Carafe: Place the empty glass carafe with its lid onto the warming plate. Ensure it is properly seated to activate the anti-drip mechanism.
- Start Brewing: Press the ON/OFF AUTO button. The indicator light will illuminate, and the brewing process will begin.
- Serve: Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will automatically switch to the "Keep Warm" mode. You can remove the carafe to pour coffee at any time during or after brewing. The anti-drip feature will temporarily stop the flow of coffee.
- Automatic Shut-Off: The warming plate will keep the coffee warm for 2 hours, then automatically shut off.
Programmable Brewing
To set the coffee maker to brew automatically at a later time:
- Follow steps 1 and 2 from "Brewing Coffee" above (fill water and add grounds).
- Press the PROG button. The display will flash "AM 12:00".
- Use the HOUR and MIN buttons to set your desired brew time. Ensure the AM/PM indicator is correct.
- Press the PROG button again to confirm the programmed time. The "AUTO" indicator light will illuminate.
- The coffee maker will now automatically start brewing at the set time.
Brew Strength Control
To adjust the strength of your coffee:
- After adding water and coffee grounds, press the STRONG button before starting the brew cycle.
- The "STRONG" indicator light will illuminate, indicating that the coffee maker will brew a bolder cup of coffee.
- Press the STRONG button again to deactivate the strong brew setting.
Care and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.
Daily Cleaning
- Unplug: Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
- Wash Removable Parts: Remove the carafe, carafe lid, brew basket, and reusable mesh filter. Wash these parts in warm, soapy water. They are also top-rack dishwasher safe.
- Wipe Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Dry: Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling and storing.

Descaling (Monthly or as needed)
Mineral deposits from water can affect coffee maker performance. Descale your coffee maker regularly.
- Prepare Solution: Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts cold water.
- Brew Cycle: Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Press the ON/OFF AUTO button to run a brew cycle with the vinegar solution.
- Soak: After the cycle, turn off the coffee maker and let the solution sit in the carafe for 15-20 minutes.
- Rinse Cycles: Discard the vinegar solution. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water and run two full brew cycles with only water to rinse thoroughly.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your coffee maker, refer to the following table:
