Function Key Combinations (FN Layer)
Due to its compact 60% layout, many functions, including F-keys (F1-F12), are accessed via combinations with the Fn key. Consult the keyboard's physical layout or the included manual for specific Fn key combinations to access multimedia controls, F-keys, and other secondary functions.
Example: To use F1, you typically press Fn + 1. The exact mapping may vary, so refer to the provided documentation or the manufacturer's website for a complete list.
Maintenance
Cleaning the Keyboard
The SK64 features PBT thermal sublimation keycaps, known for their high abrasive resistance and oil-proof properties, ensuring durability and preventing legends from fading. The mainboard is designed with IP6X dustproof protection.
- Keycaps: Use a soft, damp cloth with mild soap and water to clean the keycaps. For deeper cleaning, keycaps can be removed using the provided keycap puller.
- Keyboard Body: Wipe the keyboard body with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid excessive moisture.
- Dust Removal: Use compressed air to remove dust and debris from between the keycaps and switches.
Keycap and Switch Replacement
The SK64 is a hot-swappable keyboard, allowing you to replace Gateron Optical switches without soldering. This feature enables customization and easy maintenance.
- Removing Keycaps: Use the provided keycap puller to gently lift keycaps off the switches.
- Removing Switches: Use the provided switch puller to carefully grip and pull the optical switch straight up from the PCB.
- Installing Switches: Align the pins of the new optical switch with the holes on the PCB and press down gently until it clicks into place. Ensure the switch is seated correctly to avoid bent pins.
- Installing Keycaps: Press the desired keycap onto the switch stem until it is firmly seated.
Caution: Only use compatible Gateron Optical switches for replacement. Using incompatible switches may damage the keyboard.
Troubleshooting
Keyboard Not Responding
- Ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer.
- Try connecting the keyboard to a different USB port on your computer.
- Test the keyboard on another computer to rule out system-specific issues.
- If using a USB hub, try connecting directly to the computer.
F-Keys (F1-F12) Not Working
- Remember that F-keys are typically accessed via the Fn key combination on 60% keyboards. For example, press Fn + 1 for F1.
- Refer to the keyboard's specific key mapping or the manufacturer's software for the correct Fn key combinations.
RGB Backlight Issues
- Ensure the keyboard is properly connected and receiving power.
- Use the EPOMAKER software to adjust brightness and lighting effects.
- If keycap legends are difficult to see in low light, consider using the software to increase brightness or selecting a lighter keycap set if customization is desired.
Software Not Recognizing Keyboard
- Ensure you have the latest version of the EPOMAKER software installed.
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard, then restart the software.
- Restart your computer and try again.
- Temporarily disable any antivirus or firewall software that might be interfering.
