Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Check for any shipping damage.
  2. Assemble Support Legs (if applicable): Some models may require attaching support legs. Ensure they are securely fastened.
  3. Position the Cutter: Place the tile cutter on a stable, flat, and level surface. Ensure there is enough space around the cutter for safe operation and tile handling.
  4. Check Cutting Wheel: Verify that the alloy cutting wheel is properly installed and free from damage.
  5. Laser Activation: If your model includes a laser, ensure the batteries are installed (if required) and the laser is functional. The laser helps in precise alignment.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for effective tile cutting:

  1. Measure and Mark: Measure the desired cut on your tile. Use a pencil or marker to draw a clear cutting line.
  2. Position the Tile: Place the tile firmly on the cutter's base, aligning your marked cutting line with the guide rail and the laser line (if using). Use the adjustable rulers for precise positioning.
  3. Accurate rulers on the tile cutter

Figure 4: The integrated accurate rulers and measurement guides assist in precise tile alignment before cutting.

  4. Score the Tile:
    • Lower the cutting handle so the alloy cutting wheel makes contact with the tile surface at the edge closest to you.
    • Apply steady, even pressure to the handle and push the cutting head along the guide rail away from you, scoring the tile in a single, continuous motion.
    • Ensure the score line is straight and extends from one edge of the tile to the other. Do not make multiple passes, as this can lead to uneven breaks.
  5. Precise and smooth cutting mechanism

Figure 5: Detail of the cutting mechanism, showing how the cutting head moves along the rail for precise and smooth scoring.

  6. Break the Tile:
    • Once the tile is scored, position the breaking bar (usually part of the cutting head or a separate lever) directly over the score line.
    • Apply quick, firm downward pressure to the handle. This will snap the tile cleanly along the scored line.
    • For larger tiles, ensure even pressure is applied across the breaking bar.
  7. Ergonomic handle of the tile cutter

Figure 7: The ergonomic handle provides a comfortable grip and leverage for scoring and breaking tiles.

  8. Clean Edges: After breaking, carefully inspect the tile edges. Minor rough spots can be smoothed with a tile rubbing stone or sandpaper.

The VEVOR Manual Tile Cutter is suitable for a wide range of tile types and applications, as shown below:

  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a light coat of machine oil to the guide rail to ensure smooth operation of the cutting head.
