1. Introduction
The JABO 5CG is a third-generation intelligent bait boat developed and produced by ZHJABO. This advanced bait boat utilizes GPS positioning and electronic compass navigation to provide precise control and automated functions for fishing. It is designed to enhance your fishing experience by offering features such as automatic navigation to target points, automated bait release, and automatic return to the starting point.
In addition to its primary bait delivery functions, the JABO 5CG also integrates a fish finder, fish lure lamp, and water temperature measurement capabilities, making it a comprehensive tool for modern anglers.

3. Setup
3.1. Battery Installation
Ensure the bait boat and remote control are powered by fully charged batteries. The boat uses two 6.4V 10A lithium batteries, and the remote control uses a 3.7V lithium battery. Access the battery compartments on the boat (refer to Figure 2.1) and the remote control to insert the batteries correctly.
3.2. Initial Power-On and GPS Connection
- Turn on the power switch for both the bait boat and the remote control.
- Upon powering on, the bait boat will automatically begin establishing a connection with navigation satellites. This process typically takes 1-3 minutes. Wait for the GPS connection to be successfully established before proceeding.
- The remote control's LCD screen will display the GPS status.
3.3. Setting the Start Point
The start point is crucial for the boat's automatic return function. You can set the start point manually or allow the JABO 5CG to set it automatically.
- Manual Setting: Refer to the remote control instructions for specific button sequences to manually set the start point at your desired location. It is recommended to set the start point at the beginning of each use.
- Automatic Setting: If you do not manually set a start point, the JABO 5CG will automatically establish one.
Once the start point is set, the boat will safely return to this "home" position after each departure, especially useful for automated functions.
4. Operation
4.1. Manual Control
Use the joysticks on the remote control (Figure 2.2) to manually steer the bait boat. The left and right handles control the direction and speed of the boat. Practice in an open water area to become familiar with its responsiveness.
4.2. Automatic Navigation and Target Points
- Storing Target Points: Navigate the boat to a desired baiting location. Use the remote control's interface to store this location as a target bait point (up to 8 points can be stored).
- Automatic Navigation to Target: Select a stored target point from the remote control. The boat will automatically navigate to this precise location.
- Automatic Return: After completing its task at the target point (e.g., bait release), the boat can be commanded to automatically return to the pre-set start point.
This feature is particularly beneficial for night fishing, as it ensures accurate bait and hook release even in low visibility conditions.
4.3. Bait and Hook Release
The JABO 5CG is equipped with two large bait silos and two hook release devices.
- Bait Silos: Load up to 2KG of bait into each silo. Use the remote control to open the silo doors and release the bait at your desired location.
- Hook Release: Attach your fishing lines with hooks to the two hanging line devices. Use the remote control to trigger the release mechanism, dropping your hooks precisely where needed.
4.4. Fish Finder and Water Temperature
The integrated sonar system provides real-time information:
- Fish Detection: The sonar can detect fish and display their presence on the remote control's LCD screen. It can distinguish between large and small fish.
- Water Depth: Measures and displays the water depth.
- Water Temperature: Provides the current water temperature (0-50°C).
Use the "Display mode selection" button on the remote control to cycle through different information displays.
4.5. Fish Lure Lamp
Activate the fish lure lamp (0.5W) via the remote control to attract fish, especially effective during low-light conditions or night fishing.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your JABO 5CG bait boat.
- Cleaning: After each use, especially in saltwater, rinse the boat thoroughly with fresh water to remove any dirt, debris, or salt residue. Wipe it dry with a soft cloth.
- Propeller Inspection: Although the propeller is built-in to prevent entanglement, periodically inspect the propeller area for any trapped debris or fishing lines. Clean as necessary.
- Battery Care:
- Always use the recommended charger for the lithium batteries.
- Do not overcharge or completely discharge the batteries.
- Store batteries in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- If storing for extended periods, charge batteries to approximately 50% capacity.
- Storage: Store the bait boat and remote control in a dry, cool environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your JABO 5CG bait boat.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Boat not responding to remote control. | Low battery in boat or remote; out of range; interference; not paired. | Charge batteries. Ensure boat is within 300 meters range. Check for strong interference sources. Re-pair remote control if necessary (refer to specific pairing instructions in full manual). |
| GPS connection takes too long or fails. | Poor satellite signal; initial connection time. | Ensure boat is in an open area with clear sky view. Initial connection can take 1-3 minutes. Wait patiently. |
| Bait silos or hook release not working. | Mechanism jammed; low battery; remote command not received. | Check for obstructions in the mechanism. Ensure batteries are charged. Verify remote control commands are being sent correctly. |
| Sonar/Fish Finder not displaying data. | Sonar sensor obstructed; boat not in water; display mode incorrect. | Ensure sonar sensor on the boat's hull is clean and unobstructed. Boat must be in water for sonar to function. Check remote control display mode settings. |
