4.4. Advanced Features
- Guest Wi-Fi: Create a separate, secure Wi-Fi network for guests without compromising your main network's security.
- Parental Controls: Manage internet access time and block inappropriate content for connected devices.
- Quality of Service (QoS): Prioritize bandwidth for key devices or applications (e.g., gaming, streaming) to ensure optimal performance.
- VPN Support: The router supports OpenVPN and WireGuard, allowing you to establish secure remote access to your home network's VPN server.
- OFDMA & MU-MIMO: These technologies enhance connectivity by enabling efficient communication with multiple devices simultaneously, reducing latency in busy households.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your router:
- Firmware Upgrades: Periodically check for and install firmware updates via the WavRouter app or web interface to ensure your router has the latest features and security patches.
- Reboot Router: If you experience network issues, a simple reboot can often resolve them. This can be done through the app, web interface, or by unplugging and replugging the power adapter.
- System Logs: Access system logs through the web interface to monitor network activity, connected devices, and potential issues.
- Physical Cleaning: Keep the router in a well-ventilated area and periodically clean dust from its vents to prevent overheating.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your router, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
- No Internet Connection:
- Check all cable connections (WAN, LAN, power) to ensure they are secure.
- Restart your modem and then your router.
- Verify your internet service provider (ISP) connection status.
- Weak Wi-Fi Signal or Dead Zones:
- Ensure the router's antennas are positioned optimally.
- Relocate the router to a central location, away from obstructions and interference sources.
- Consider adding a compatible mesh extender to expand coverage.
- Device Connectivity Issues:
- Ensure your device is within the Wi-Fi range.
- Verify the Wi-Fi password is correct.
- If using older IoT devices, ensure dual-band convergence is configured appropriately or separate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz SSIDs.
- Slow Network Speed:
- Check your internet plan speed with your ISP.
- Use QoS settings to prioritize critical devices or applications.
- Ensure your devices support Wi-Fi 7 for optimal performance.
- Router Reset: If all else fails, you can perform a factory reset by pressing and holding the reset button on the back of the router for approximately 10 seconds. Warning: This will erase all custom settings and restore the router to its factory defaults.
