Important Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:

1. Read all instructions before use.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid.

13. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the heating cycle.
14. Ensure the lid is securely closed before operating.
15. Only use the kettle with its supplied power base.

Setup

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials from the kettle and its base. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, fill the kettle with clean water to the MAX line. Boil the water at 100°C, then discard it. Repeat this process 2-3 times to remove any manufacturing residues.
3. Placement: Place the power base on a dry, flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface. Ensure the power cord is not dangling or in contact with hot surfaces.
4. Cord Storage: The power base includes integrated cord storage. Adjust the cord length as needed to prevent tangling.

Operating Instructions

1. Filling the Kettle: Open the lid and fill the kettle with the desired amount of fresh water. Do not fill below the MIN mark or above the MAX (1.8L) mark on the water level indicator. Ensure the lid is securely closed after filling.
2. Placing on Base: Place the kettle firmly onto its power base.
3. Power On: Plug the power cord into a suitable wall outlet (230V). The display will illuminate.
4. Selecting Temperature: The kettle offers 8 modes: 40°C, 80°C, 85°C, 90°C, 95°C, 100°C, Keep Warm, and Sterilization. Press the corresponding temperature button (e.g., 'GREEN TEA' for 80°C, 'COFFEE' for 95°C, 'JUST BOIL' for 100°C) on the control panel. The selected temperature will be displayed.
5. Starting Boil: Once a temperature is selected, the kettle will automatically begin heating. The display will show the current water temperature as it rises.
6. Keep Warm Function: After reaching the selected temperature, you can activate the 'KEEP WARM' function. This will maintain the water at the target temperature for up to 20 minutes.
7. Sterilization Mode: The 'STERILISE PRESS & HOLD' mode heats water to 100°C and maintains it for a period to sterilize. Press and hold the 'STERILISE' button to activate.
8. Automatic Shut-off: The kettle will automatically switch off once the selected temperature is reached or if it runs dry.

Temperature Guide

The Espressions Smart Kettle allows you to select the optimal temperature for various beverages, enhancing their flavor profile. Brewing tea at the correct temperature is crucial; for example, green tea brewed above 80°C can result in a bitter taste.

• 40°C: Ideal for baby formula or warming delicate liquids.
• 80°C (Green Tea): Perfect for green teas, preventing bitterness.
• 85°C (White Tea): Suitable for white teas and some delicate herbal infusions.
• 90°C (Oolong): Recommended for Oolong teas and French press coffee.
• 95°C (Coffee): Optimal for most coffee preparations, including pour-over.
• 100°C (Just Boil): For black teas, herbal infusions, instant noodles, or general boiling needs.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your Espressions Smart Kettle.

1. Before Cleaning: Always unplug the kettle from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
2. Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the kettle and power base with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can scratch the stainless steel finish. Never immerse the kettle or power base in water or any other liquid.
3. Interior Cleaning / Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up inside the kettle, especially in hard water areas. This can affect performance and taste.
   • Remove the limescale filter located near the spout and rinse it under running water.
   • To descale the kettle, fill it with a mixture of water and white vinegar (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water) or a commercial descaling solution according to product instructions.
   • Boil the mixture and let it stand for at least 30 minutes, or longer for heavy buildup.
   • Discard the mixture and rinse the interior thoroughly with fresh water several times.
   • Reinsert the limescale filter.

Troubleshooting

• Kettle does not heat:
  • Ensure the kettle is properly seated on the power base.
  • Check if the power cord is securely plugged into the wall outlet.
  • Verify that the power outlet is functional.
• Water has an unusual taste:
  • Perform the initial cleaning steps (boiling and discarding water) again.
  • Descale the kettle if limescale buildup is present.
• Kettle switches off before boiling:
  • This may indicate limescale buildup. Descale the kettle.
  • Ensure the kettle is filled above the MIN level.
• Lid does not close properly:
  • Check for any obstructions preventing the lid from closing.
