4. Setup and Installation
The EVOTECH Handguard Protectors are designed for bolt-on installation. Follow these general steps for proper fitment. Specific torque values and detailed diagrams may be provided with the physical product packaging.
- Prepare the Motorcycle: Park the motorcycle on a level surface using its center stand or a paddock stand to ensure stability. Turn off the engine and remove the key.
- Identify Mounting Points: Locate the existing mounting points on your Ducati Multistrada's handlebars, typically at the bar ends and near the handlebar clamps.
- Attach Bar End Mounts: Secure the bar end mounts of the handguard protectors into the handlebar ends. Ensure a snug fit without overtightening initially.
- Position Handguard Body: Align the main body of the handguard protector with the bar end mount and the inner mounting point.
- Secure Inner Mounts: Attach the inner mounting brackets to the designated points on the handlebar, often utilizing existing bolt locations or provided clamps.
- Adjust and Tighten: Once both ends of the handguard are loosely attached, adjust their position to ensure they do not interfere with lever operation or other controls. Ensure adequate clearance for full steering lock. Gradually tighten all mounting bolts to the manufacturer's recommended torque specifications.
- Repeat for Other Side: Follow the same procedure for the opposite side of the motorcycle.
- Final Check: After installation, operate the front brake, clutch, and throttle to confirm no interference. Turn the handlebars from lock to lock to ensure full range of motion without obstruction.

5. Operation and Function
Once installed, the EVOTECH Handguard Protectors function passively by providing a physical barrier. They are designed to:
- Protect Levers: Shield brake and clutch levers from accidental impact during a fall or collision, reducing the risk of damage and ensuring continued control.
- Deflect Debris: Offer protection against road debris, branches, and other elements encountered during riding.
- Enhance Rider Comfort: Provide a degree of wind and weather protection for the rider's hands.
6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and effectiveness of your handguard protectors, regular maintenance is recommended:
- Cleaning: Clean the handguards regularly with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect all mounting bolts for tightness. Vibrations from riding can cause fasteners to loosen over time.
- Damage Check: Examine the handguard protectors for any cracks, bends, or other damage, especially after any impact or fall. Replace damaged components immediately.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your handguard protectors, consider the following:
- Loose Fitment: If the handguards feel loose, re-check all mounting bolts and ensure they are tightened to the recommended torque specifications.
- Interference with Controls: If the handguards interfere with the operation of levers or the throttle, loosen the mounting bolts, adjust the position for proper clearance, and then re-tighten. Ensure full steering lock is not impeded.
- Vibration/Noise: Ensure all components are correctly seated and tightened. Check for any missing washers or spacers.
