Setup Guide

1. Package Contents

Ensure all items are present in your package:

Telephone base
3 cordless handsets
3 AC adaptors
3 Nonstandard Battery batteries (included)

2. Initial Setup and Charging

Step 1: Connect the Base Unit. Plug the telephone line cord into the base unit and a telephone wall jack. Plug the AC adapter into the base unit and a power outlet.

Step 2: Install Handset Batteries. Open the battery compartment on each handset and insert the included batteries, observing polarity. Close the compartment.

Step 3: Charge Handsets. Place each handset in its charging cradle. Allow at least 16 hours for the initial charge to ensure optimal battery performance. The CHARGE light on the handset will illuminate.

3. Bluetooth Connect to Cell Setup

The system allows you to pair up to two Bluetooth-enabled cellular phones. Ensure your cell phone is within range of the telephone base.

On the telephone base, press MENU.
Use the ▼ (down arrow) to scroll to Bluetooth, then press SELECT.
Select Add device, then Add cellular.
The base will prompt you to disconnect your cell phone from any other Bluetooth devices. Press NEXT.
Place your cell phone next to the base and press NEXT. The base will display "Set cell to search base: VTech DECT 6.0 PIN: 0000".
On your cell phone, go to its Bluetooth settings and select VTech DECT 6.0 from the list of available devices.
When prompted on your cell phone, confirm the pairing by selecting Allow or entering the PIN (0000) if requested.
Once connected, the telephone base will display "Cell phone is added and connected to base."

Note: The system supports pairing with two cellular phones simultaneously.

Operating Instructions

1. Making and Receiving Calls

The VTech IS8151-3 allows you to make and receive calls via your landline or connected cellular phones.

To make a call: Pick up a handset or press HOME (for landline) or CELL 1/CELL 2 (for cellular) and dial the number.
To answer a call: Press any dial key (0-9, #, *) or the HOME or CELL button when the phone rings.
Speakerphone: Press the SPEAKER button during a call to activate the speakerphone.

2. Smart Call Blocker

The Smart Call Blocker feature helps filter unwanted calls. You can block numbers, screen robocalls, and manage a whitelist of allowed callers.

To block a number during a call: Press the CALL BLOCK button.
To screen robocalls: Set the system to ask callers to press the pound key.
To screen unknown callers: Set the system to ask callers to record their names. The phone will ring and announce the name, allowing you to accept, block, or forward the call.

3. Digital Answering System

The integrated answering machine records up to 22 minutes of messages. A voice guide assists with setup.

Playing messages: Press PLAY/STOP on the telephone base.
Recording announcements: Follow the voice guide prompts to record your outgoing message.
Message counter: The LED display on the base shows the number of new messages.

4. Intercom Function

Use the intercom feature to communicate between handsets or between a handset and the base unit.

Press INT on the handset or base.
Dial the number of the desired handset (1-12) or press ALL to call all handsets.
The receiving handset will ring. Press any key to answer.

5. Phonebook and Caller ID

The system supports a phonebook for frequently called numbers and displays Caller ID information.

Adding contacts: Manually add entries or download up to 4,000 contacts from a paired cellular phone.
Caller ID Announce: The system announces the name of the caller (if available in your phonebook or Caller ID service) through the handset and base speaker.

Maintenance

Proper care ensures the longevity of your phone system.

Cleaning: Wipe the phone and base with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use cleaning sprays or harsh chemicals.
Battery Care: Replace batteries when they no longer hold a charge. Use only the specified battery type.
Location: Avoid placing the phone in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in areas with excessive moisture.

Troubleshooting

Problem	Possible Solution
No dial tone	Ensure the telephone line cord is securely plugged into the base and wall jack. Check if the AC adapter is properly connected to the base and power outlet.
Handset not charging	Ensure the handset is correctly seated in the charging cradle. Clean the charging contacts on the handset and cradle with a dry cloth. Verify the battery is properly installed.
Cannot pair Bluetooth cell phone	Ensure your cell phone's Bluetooth is enabled and discoverable. Make sure the cell phone is not connected to other Bluetooth devices. Place the cell phone close to the VTech base unit during pairing. Restart both the cell phone and the VTech base unit.
Poor range or static	Relocate the telephone base to a more central location. Avoid placing the base near large metal objects, appliances, or other electronic devices that may cause interference.
Smart Call Blocker not working as expected	Review the Smart Call Blocker settings in the menu to ensure they are configured to your preference (e.g., screening robocalls, unknown callers). Ensure the number you wish to block is not on your "Allowed" list.
