Setup

Proper setup ensures optimal performance of your ATEM Mini Pro. Follow these steps to connect your device and prepare for operation.

1. Power Connection

Connect the external 12V DC power supply to the 'POWER' input on the rear of the ATEM Mini Pro. Use the appropriate international socket adapter for your region. The device does not feature a dedicated power switch and will power on automatically upon connection.

2. HDMI Inputs

Connect up to four HDMI sources (e.g., cameras, computers, gaming consoles) to the 'HDMI IN 1-4' ports on the rear panel. The ATEM Mini Pro supports 10-bit 4:2:2 YUV video with 2-channel embedded audio for each input.

3. Audio Inputs

For external audio sources, connect 3.5mm stereo analog audio cables to the 'MIC 1' and 'MIC 2' inputs. These inputs feature 2-channel audio with noise reduction, EQ, and compression capabilities.

4. USB-C Connection

The 'USB OUT' Type-C 3.1 Gen 1 port serves multiple functions: it acts as a webcam output for direct connection to a computer, allows for panel connection for software control, and enables direct recording to external USB drives.

5. Ethernet Connection

Connect an Ethernet cable to the 'ATEM CONTROL' port. This connection is essential for controlling the ATEM Mini Pro via the ATEM Software Control application on a computer and for direct live streaming to the internet.

6. HDMI Output

Connect a monitor to the 'HDMI OUT' port to view your multi-view display, which shows all inputs, preview, and program feeds simultaneously.

1. Control Panel Overview

The front panel features dedicated buttons for switching between camera inputs (1-4), applying transitions (Cut, Auto), controlling audio (Mic 1, Mic 2, AFV, Reset), and managing Picture-in-Picture effects. Dedicated buttons for 'REC' and 'ON AIR' allow for direct recording and streaming control.

4. Built-in Audio Mixer

A powerful 6-input, 2-channel audio mixer is integrated, allowing you to control audio from all HDMI inputs and the two external microphone inputs. Adjust levels, apply EQ, compression, and noise gate effects directly from the control panel or software.

5. Live Streaming and Recording

Stream directly to YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, and other platforms via the Ethernet connection. The built-in hardware streaming engine supports both RTMP and SRT protocols. Simultaneously record your program output directly to an external USB-C drive in H.264 format.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Pro, follow these general maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the unit has adequate ventilation to prevent overheating. Do not block the ventilation slots.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the ATEM Mini Pro in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cable Management: Keep cables organized and free from kinks or excessive tension to prevent damage to connectors and ports.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ATEM Mini Pro, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power: Ensure the 12V DC power supply is securely connected to the unit and plugged into a working power outlet. Verify that the correct international adapter is used.
  • No Video Input: Check all HDMI cable connections. Ensure your source devices are powered on and outputting a compatible video signal.
  • No Multi-view Output: Verify the HDMI cable from the 'HDMI OUT' port to your monitor is securely connected and the monitor is set to the correct input.
  • Streaming Issues: Check your Ethernet cable connection and ensure your network is active. Verify streaming settings (platform, server, key) in the ATEM Software Control.
  • Recording Problems: Ensure an external USB-C drive is connected and formatted correctly (e.g., exFAT). Check the drive's available storage space.
  • Software Control Not Connecting: Ensure the Ethernet cable is connected to both the ATEM Mini Pro and your computer/network. Verify your computer's network settings.
