Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the VTech VS112-4 DECT Bluetooth 4 Handset Cordless Phone system. This system features Bluetooth Connect to Cell technology, a Smart Call Blocker, and a digital answering system. It allows users to manage both cellular and landline calls from a single home phone system.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of each handset.
  2. Connect the battery connector securely into the jack inside the compartment.
  3. Place the battery into the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover.
  5. Place each handset in its respective charger to charge for at least 16 hours before initial use.

2. Base Unit Connection

  1. Plug the small end of the base unit power adapter into the power jack on the back of the base unit.
  2. Plug the large end of the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
  3. Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the TEL LINE jack on the back of the base unit.
  4. Plug the other end of the telephone line cord into a telephone wall jack.

3. Charger Connection

  1. Plug the small end of each charger power adapter into the power jack on the back of each charger.
  2. Plug the large end of each power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

Connect to Cell Feature

The Connect to Cell feature allows you to make and receive cellular calls using your VTech cordless handsets. You can pair up to two cell phones or one cell phone and one Bluetooth headset.

  1. Pairing a Cell Phone:
    • On the base unit, press and hold CELL until the CELL 1 or CELL 2 indicator flashes.
    • Enable Bluetooth on your cell phone and search for devices.
    • Select "VTech VS112-4" from the list of available devices.
    • Confirm the pairing on both devices if prompted.
  2. Making a Cell Call:
    • On a handset, press CELL, then dial the number.
    • Press TALK to initiate the call.
  3. Receiving a Cell Call:
    • When a cell call comes in, the handset will ring and display "Cell Call".
    • Press TALK to answer.

Smart Call Blocker

The Smart Call Blocker helps filter unwanted calls, including robocalls. You can block up to 1,000 numbers.

  • Blocking a Number: During a call or after reviewing Caller ID history, press the CALL BLOCK button on the handset or base unit. Follow the prompts to add the number to the block list.
  • Screening Robocalls: Set the system to ask callers to press the pound key. Robocalls typically cannot complete this action and will be blocked.
  • Screening Unknown Callers: Configure the system to ask unknown callers to state their name. The system will announce the name, allowing you to decide whether to answer or block the call.

Digital Answering System

The integrated digital answering system records up to 22 minutes of messages, announcements, and memos. A voice guide assists with setup.

  • Playing Messages: Press PLAY/STOP on the base unit or handset.
  • Recording an Announcement: Follow the voice guide prompts to record your outgoing message.
  • LED Message Counter: The base unit features an LED display indicating the number of new messages.

Intercom

Use the intercom feature to communicate between handsets.

  • Press INTERCOM on a handset.
  • Select the desired handset number to call.
  • The receiving handset will ring. Press TALK to answer the intercom call.

Speakerphone

Each handset includes a full-duplex speakerphone for hands-free conversations.

  • During a call, press SPEAKER to activate the speakerphone.
  • Press SPEAKER again to switch back to the earpiece.

Volume Adjustment

Adjust the listening volume during a call using the VOLUME buttons on the side of the handset or the VOL +/- buttons on the base unit.

Caller ID and Call Waiting

The system stores up to 50 name and number caller ID entries.

  • When a call comes in, the caller's information will display on the handset screen.
  • During an active call, if another call comes in, you will hear a call waiting tone. Press FLASH to switch to the incoming call.

Visual Ringer

The handset features a visual ringer, a light on top that flashes during an incoming call. This is useful in noisy environments or for users with hearing impairments.

Large Screen and Keypad

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the phone and base unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use cleaning sprays or harsh chemicals.
  • Battery Care: Replace batteries when they no longer hold a charge. Use only the specified rechargeable batteries.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid placing the phone in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in areas with high humidity.

Troubleshooting

Handset not chargingEnsure the handset is correctly seated in the charger. Verify the charger's power adapter is plugged in. Clean charging contacts.
