5. Installation (Setup)

Follow these steps for a tool-free and secure installation of your washbasin mixer tap.

5.1 Pre-Installation

  1. Turn off Water Supply: Locate the main water shut-off valve for your bathroom and turn it off. Open existing taps to drain any remaining water from the pipes.
  2. Clear Area: Ensure the washbasin area is clean and free of obstructions.
  3. Inspect Components: Verify all parts listed in Section 3 are present and undamaged.

5.2 Tap Installation

  1. Insert Hoses: Screw the two flexible connection hoses into the base of the tap body. Ensure they are hand-tightened securely.
  2. Position Tap: Place the tap onto the washbasin, feeding the connection hoses and the threaded shaft through the single tap hole.
  3. Secure Tap: From underneath the washbasin, slide the rubber washer, metal washer, and then the fixing nut onto the threaded shaft. Tighten the fixing nut using the provided shaft attachment mechanism. This tool-free design allows for easy and secure fastening.
  4. Connect Water Lines: Connect the flexible hoses to the corresponding hot and cold water supply lines. The hot water connection is typically on the left (marked with red), and cold on the right (marked with blue). Use appropriate wrenches to tighten connections, but do not overtighten.

  2. Flush Lines: Open the tap and let water run for a few minutes to flush out any debris from the pipes.

6. Operation

The Cornat NERSC1 features a single lever for convenient control of water flow and temperature.

6.1 Water Flow and Temperature Control

  • Flow Control: Lift the lever upwards to increase water flow. Push it downwards to decrease or stop the flow.

The drain plug is operated conveniently via a pull rod located at the rear of the tap body. Pull the rod up to close the drain and push it down to open it.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your tap.

7.1 Cleaning

  • Clean the tap regularly with a soft cloth and mild soap or a non-abrasive cleaner specifically designed for bathroom fixtures.
  • Avoid using abrasive sponges, scouring pads, or harsh chemical cleaners (e.g., bleach, ammonia-based products) as these can damage the matte black and chrome finishes.
  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.

7.2 Aerator Cleaning

  • If water flow becomes restricted or uneven, the aerator may be clogged with mineral deposits.
  • Unscrew the aerator from the spout (it may require a small wrench or coin).
  • Rinse the aerator screen under running water and gently brush away any debris. For stubborn mineral deposits, soak the aerator in a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water for a few hours.
  • Reattach the aerator, ensuring it is securely tightened.

7.3 Cartridge Replacement

The tap is equipped with a quality cartridge featuring low-wear ceramic sealing washers for long-term reliability. If the tap begins to drip or leak from the handle, the cartridge may need replacement. This is an advanced maintenance task and may require professional assistance.

  • Turn off the water supply to the tap.
  • Remove the handle and any decorative caps to access the cartridge.
  • Unscrew the cartridge retaining nut and carefully remove the old cartridge.
  • Insert a new, compatible cartridge, ensuring it is correctly oriented.
  • Reassemble the tap in reverse order.
