Setup

1. Battery Installation

The Switch Camera requires 8 AA batteries for operation. Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity as indicated inside the compartment.

  1. Open the camera's front cover.
  2. Locate the battery compartment.
  3. Insert 8 new AA batteries, matching the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals correctly.
  4. Close the battery compartment securely.

2. SD Card Installation

A Micro SD card (up to 32GB, not included) is required to store images and videos.

  1. With the camera open, locate the Micro SD card slot.
  2. Insert the Micro SD card into the slot until it clicks into place. Ensure the card is oriented correctly.
  3. To remove, push the card in slightly until it springs out.

3. Mounting the Camera

Use the included adjustable tree strap to secure the camera to a tree or post.

  1. Thread the adjustable tree strap through the slots on the back of the camera.
  2. Wrap the strap around the desired mounting location (e.g., tree trunk).
  3. Pull the strap tight to secure the camera firmly. Ensure the camera is stable and pointed towards the desired monitoring area.

Operating the Camera

The Switch Camera features a simplified three-button interface for easy operation.

Control Buttons:

  • MODE Button: Cycles through different settings and modes (Capture Mode, Delay Setting, Time Zone).
  • + Button: Increases values or cycles through options.
  • OK Button: Confirms selections and saves settings.

Basic Setup Steps:

  1. Power On: After inserting batteries and SD card, the camera will power on automatically when the front cover is opened.
  2. Set Capture Mode: Press the MODE button until 'MODE' is displayed. Use the + button to select between 'P' (Photo), 'V' (Video), or 'PV' (Photo + Video). Press OK to confirm.
  3. Set Delay Setting: Press the MODE button until 'DELAY' is displayed. Use the + button to select the desired delay time (e.g., 5, 10, 15 seconds). This determines how long the camera waits before detecting motion again after a capture. Press OK to confirm.
  4. Set Time Zone: Press the MODE button until 'ZONE' is displayed. Use the + button to select your local time zone. The camera automatically syncs date and time and adjusts for daylight savings. Press OK to confirm.
  5. Arming the Camera: Once settings are configured, close the front cover. The camera will enter armed mode after a short countdown, indicated by a flashing light.

Image and Video Capture:

The camera will automatically capture images or videos based on the selected mode when motion is detected within its range (up to 65 feet).

  • Still Images: Captured at 12-megapixel resolution.
  • Video: Recorded in 720p HD resolution.

Maintenance

Cleaning:

  • Gently wipe the camera lens and PIR sensor with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dirt, dust, or smudges.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

Battery Management:

  • Regularly check battery levels, especially before extended deployments.
  • Replace all 8 AA batteries simultaneously with new ones to ensure optimal performance.
  • Remove batteries if the camera will be stored for a long period to prevent leakage.

Storage:

  • Store the camera in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Ensure the camera is clean and dry before storage.

Troubleshooting

Camera Not Powering On:

  • Ensure all 8 AA batteries are new and inserted with correct polarity.
  • Check that the battery compartment is fully closed and latched.

No Images/Videos Captured:

  • Verify that an SD card is properly inserted and has sufficient free space.
  • Check the selected capture mode (Photo, Video, Photo+Video).
  • Ensure the camera is armed (front cover closed after setup).
  • Confirm the PIR sensor is not obstructed and the camera is positioned correctly to detect motion.

Poor Image/Video Quality (Especially at Night):

  • Clean the camera lens and infrared LED array.
  • Ensure the subject is within the 65-foot illumination range.
  • Check battery levels; low batteries can affect flash performance.

Difficulty Opening Camera/Battery Compartment:

  • Apply firm, even pressure when opening latches. Avoid excessive force.
  • Ensure no debris is lodged in the latch mechanism.

Excessive Battery Drain:

  • Ensure you are using high-quality alkaline or lithium AA batteries.
  • Check the delay setting; shorter delays result in more frequent captures and higher battery consumption.
  • Consider the environment; extreme cold can reduce battery life.
