1. Product Overview

The Amplim 3-in-1 Infrared Thermometer is a versatile device designed for quick and accurate temperature measurement. It supports forehead, ear, and object/room temperature modes, making it suitable for infants, children, and adults. 2. Safety Information

Important Disclaimer:

Use of this thermometer is not intended as a substitute for consultation with your physician. It is clinically verified that forehead temperature is about 0.5-1.0°F lower than an oral temperature. Average normal forehead temperature is around 97.1 - 98.9°F. This thermometer provides the best results with contact or less than 0.5” non-contact from the forehead.

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The thermometer requires 2 AAA batteries (included). To install, open the battery compartment cover located at the back of the device. Insert the batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment. Close the cover securely.

3.2 Powering On/Off

To turn on the thermometer, press the 'PWR/SET' button. The device will perform a self-test and display the current room temperature or time. To turn off, hold the 'SET' and 'MEM' buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.

3.3 Setting Fahrenheit or Celsius

To switch between Fahrenheit (°F) and Celsius (°C), hold the 'SET' button for 3 seconds until 'SET' appears on the display. Then, press the 'F-C' button to toggle between the units. Confirm your selection by pressing 'SET' again.

3.4 Setting Date and Time

To set the date and time, hold the 'SET' button for 3 seconds. Use the up/down arrows to adjust the year, month, date, hour, and minute. Press 'SET' to confirm each selection and move to the next setting.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Measurement Modes

The Amplim thermometer offers multiple measurement modes:

  • Forehead Mode: For non-contact temperature measurement of the forehead. Point the thermometer at the forehead from a distance of 0.3" - 1.2" and press the measurement button.
  • Ear Mode: Remove the probe cover to expose the ear probe. Gently insert the probe into the ear canal and press the measurement button.
  • Object/Room Mode: Use this mode to measure the temperature of liquids (e.g., milk), surfaces, or the ambient room temperature.

4.2 Color-Coded Display and Audible Alarm

The LCD screen changes color to indicate temperature status:

  • Green: Normal temperature (89.6-99.0°F)
  • Yellow: Elevated temperature (99.1-100.3°F)
  • Red: High temperature (100.4-109.4°F)

An audible alarm will sound for fever temperatures. The buzzer can be turned ON or OFF as needed.

4.3 Memory Function

The thermometer stores the last 60 readings, allowing you to track temperature changes over time. To access memory, press the 'MEM' button. Use the up/down arrows to scroll through past readings.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To clean the thermometer, wipe it with a soft cloth dampened with alcohol or a mild disinfectant. Do not immerse the device in water or any cleaning solution. Ensure the probe is clean before each use, especially for ear measurements.

5.2 Storage

Store the thermometer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided stand for convenient and safe storage.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the thermometer is used at the correct distance (0.3" - 1.2" for forehead) and the probe is clean. Environmental factors can affect readings; allow the thermometer to acclimate to room temperature for 30 minutes before use.
  • Display Errors: If an error code appears, refer to the full instruction manual for specific meanings. Often, re-inserting batteries or restarting the device can resolve minor issues.
  • No Power: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace with new AAA batteries if necessary.
