Maclean Energy MCE703W Double Glass Touch Switch User Manual

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of your Maclean Energy MCE703W Double Glass Touch Switch. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and keep it for future reference.

The Maclean Energy MCE703W is an innovative double touch wall switch featuring a discreet backlight for easy location in the dark. Its tempered glass panel offers exceptional resistance to scratches, moisture, and temperature fluctuations, while providing a smooth, crystal-clear surface that is easy to clean. It is suitable for all types of light sources up to a maximum of 1000W and includes an LED adapter to prevent unwanted effects like residual glow after switching off.

2. Safety Information

  • Always disconnect power at the main circuit breaker before performing any electrical work. Failure to do so may result in serious injury or death.
  • Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or a person with a thorough understanding of electrical wiring.
  • Ensure the switch is compatible with your electrical system (240 Volts, 10A current rating).
  • Do not exceed the maximum load of 1000W for connected lighting.
  • Avoid installing the switch in areas with excessive humidity or direct water exposure unless specifically rated for such environments.

4.2 Wiring

The MCE703W switch supports both Live + Neutral wiring and No Neutral wiring configurations. Refer to the diagrams below and the provided videos for detailed instructions.

Live + Neutral Wiring:

Connect the live wire (L), the light control wires (L1, L2 for each gang), and the neutral wire (N) to the corresponding terminals on the back of the switch. For this method, no capacitor is required.

Video: This video demonstrates the installation process for a smart light switch, covering both live+neutral and no-neutral wiring configurations. It shows how to connect the live wire, light wire, and neutral wire (if applicable), and how to install the capacitor for no-neutral setups.

No Neutral Wiring:

If your electrical box does not have a neutral wire, you can still install the MCE703W switch. Connect the phase wire (L) to the 'L' terminal and the light control wires (L1, L2) to their respective terminals. In this configuration, a capacitor must be connected in parallel to the light source (not the switch) to prevent flickering or residual glow. Connect the capacitor to the L1 and Neutral wires of the light fixture.

Video: Detailed video guide on installing a smart light switch using a single live wire (no neutral required). It illustrates connecting the phase wire to the 'L' terminal and the light control wire to 'L1', 'L2', etc., and the parallel connection of the capacitor to the light source.

  1. Download the appropriate smart home app from your device's app store.
  2. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
  3. Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to add a new device. You may need to put the switch into pairing mode (often by long-pressing one of the touch buttons until an indicator light flashes).
  4. Select the detected switch and enter your Wi-Fi network credentials when prompted.
  5. Once successfully paired, you can control the switch via the app.

  • Switch not responding to touch: Check if the power is on. Ensure the glass panel is securely attached. If the issue persists, try resetting the switch (refer to app instructions for reset procedure).
  • App connectivity issues: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is active and the switch is within range. Verify your Wi-Fi password in the app. Try restarting your router and the switch.
  • Switch not powering on: Double-check all wiring connections, especially the live and neutral (if applicable) wires. Ensure the circuit breaker is ON.
