Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your air conditioner.
Filter and Front Cover Cleaning
- Clean the air filter when the filter light illuminates. Remove the filter and rinse it under running water. Use mild dish soap and gently rub with your hands. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with paper towels before reinserting.
- Wipe the front cover with a damp cloth to remove dust and grime.
Cooling Coil Care
- Avoid touching the cooling coil fins directly as they can bend easily.
- Use a vacuum cleaner with a nozzle attachment (without a brush) to gently remove dust from the coil without making direct contact.
Drip Water Management
- The unit's design includes a drip hole on the underside. Ensure the unit is leveled correctly during installation to direct water flow outwards.
- Periodically check the outside portion of the unit for standing water, which can attract mosquitoes. Use mosquito dunks or bits if necessary, and clean any debris.
Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter.
Noise Concerns
- Clicking/Knocking Sound: A soft clicking or knocking sound may occur for a few minutes when the unit is first turned on. This is typically normal as the compressor starts and oil circulates. It should subside.
- "Cricket" Sound: This sound is part of the unit's inverter technology. It may slow down as the room cools. If sensitive to high-frequency sounds, consider placing the unit where the compressor side (left side when facing the AC) is away from seating/sleeping areas.
- Thump when turning off: A slight thump may be heard when the compressor turns off, which is normal.
Humidity Issues
- High Humidity in Cooled Room: If the unit is oversized for the room, it may cool too quickly without running long enough to remove sufficient moisture. This can lead to a muggy feeling.
- Solution: Use the Dehumidifier mode for 30-40 minutes periodically to lower humidity. Ensure proper air circulation by opening doors or using ceiling fans. Directing the AC's airflow towards room openings can also help.
Installation Gaps
- Small gaps may exist where the bracket attaches or where the unit sits on the bracket.
- Solution: Use additional sealing foam strips to fill any gaps to prevent air leaks and insect entry.
