4.3. Snapping Off Dull Blade Segments
When the blade becomes dull, a fresh segment can be exposed using the safety disposal stand.
- Ensure the knife is fully retracted into the stand for stability.
- Advance the blade until the dullest segment is exposed just past the plastic casing.
- Insert the exposed dull blade segment into the slot on the bottom of the safety disposal stand.
- Gently bend the knife sideways until the dull segment snaps off and falls into the stand's internal disposal container.
- Retract the blade slightly to expose the new, sharp cutting tip.

6. Troubleshooting
- Blade not extending/retracting smoothly:
Check for any debris or material lodged in the blade channel. Clean the channel if necessary. Ensure the blade is correctly inserted.
- Cuts are rough or tearing material:
The blade may be dull. Snap off a dull segment to expose a fresh, sharp edge. If all segments are used, replace the entire blade.
- Blade breaks frequently:
Ensure you are not applying excessive force during cutting. Use multiple light passes for thicker materials. Verify the blade is correctly seated in the handle.
- Blade segments not snapping cleanly:
Ensure the blade is inserted correctly into the slot of the disposal stand and that sufficient force is applied to snap the segment. The stand should be on a stable surface.
