2. Safety Instructions

3.3 Battery Installation
The DUR369LZ requires two 18V Li-ion LXT slide-type batteries (not included). Ensure batteries are fully charged before use. Insert the batteries into the designated slots until they click into place. The tool is not compatible with G-Series batteries.

3.4 Blade Guard and Cutting Head Assembly
Attach the blade guard securely to the trimmer shaft using the provided fasteners. Then, install the desired cutting head (nylon cutting head, plastic blade, or metal 2-tooth blade) according to the instructions in the separate cutting head manual. Ensure all components are tightened properly before operation.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On/Off
To power on the trimmer, press the main power button. The LED indicator will illuminate. To start the cutting head, depress the trigger switch. To power off, release the trigger and then press the main power button again.
4.2 Speed Selection
The DUR369LZ offers three speed options: low, medium, and high. Use the speed selection button to cycle through these settings. Choose the appropriate speed based on the application and type of vegetation being cut.
4.3 Reverse Rotation Function
If grass clippings or weeds become tangled around the cutting head, activate the reverse rotation switch. This will temporarily reverse the direction of the cutting head, helping to clear obstructions. Release the switch to return to normal operation. Always ensure no one is in the immediate vicinity when using this function.
4.4 Cutting Technique
Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands, maintaining a balanced stance. Use a sweeping motion to cut grass, moving from right to left for optimal cutting efficiency. Avoid striking hard objects or surfaces to prevent damage to the cutting head and potential kickback.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

5.3 Storage
Store the trimmer in a dry, secure location out of reach of children. Remove batteries before long-term storage.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your DUR369LZ.
- Trimmer does not start: Ensure batteries are fully charged and correctly inserted. Check if the main power button is pressed.
- Cutting head stops during operation: The Active Feedback Sensing Technology (AFT) may have activated due to a sudden slowdown in rotation speed, protecting the user. Remove the obstruction and restart.
- Reduced cutting performance: Inspect the cutting head for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure batteries are fully charged.
- Overload protection: The electronic current limiter will activate if the tool is overloaded. Reduce the load on the cutting head and allow the tool to cool before resuming operation.
- Battery issues: The battery protection circuit safeguards against over-discharge, overload current, and overheating. If batteries are not functioning correctly, ensure they are genuine Makita LXT batteries and not G-Series.
