3. Installation and Replacement

Follow these steps to properly install or replace the domes on your compatible hearing aid. Always handle domes with clean hands.

  1. Remove Old Dome (if applicable): Gently grasp the existing dome and pull it straight off the hearing aid receiver. Dispose of the old dome responsibly.
  2. Select New Dome: Take one new dome from the pack. Ensure it is the correct size and type (Closed Medium).
  3. Attach New Dome: Align the opening of the new dome with the end of the hearing aid receiver. Push the dome firmly onto the receiver until it clicks securely into place. Ensure it is fully seated and not loose.
  4. Verify Fit: Gently tug on the dome to confirm it is securely attached. A loose dome can detach in the ear canal.
  5. Insert Hearing Aid: Carefully insert the hearing aid with the new dome into your ear canal as instructed by your audiologist or hearing aid professional.

Important: If you experience discomfort or if the dome does not feel secure, consult your hearing aid professional. Do not force the dome onto the receiver.

4. Maintenance and Care

Regular cleaning and proper care will extend the life of your hearing aid domes and ensure optimal performance of your hearing aids.

  • Daily Cleaning: After each use, gently wipe the dome with a clean, dry cloth to remove any earwax or debris.
  • Weekly Cleaning: For a more thorough cleaning, you may use a specialized hearing aid cleaning wipe or a soft cloth lightly dampened with mild soap and water. Ensure the dome is completely dry before reattaching it to the hearing aid.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use alcohol, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the silicone material.
  • Replacement: Domes should be replaced regularly, typically every 2-4 weeks, or sooner if they become stiff, discolored, or damaged. Refer to your hearing aid professional's recommendations.
  • Storage: Store unused domes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your hearing aid domes, consider the following:

  • Dome feels loose or falls off: Ensure the dome is fully pushed onto the receiver until it clicks. If it continues to be loose, the dome or receiver may be damaged, or an incorrect size might be used. Consult your hearing aid professional.
  • Discomfort or irritation: Ensure the dome is clean and free of debris. If discomfort persists, you may need a different size or type of dome. Consult your hearing aid professional.
  • Reduced sound quality: Check if the dome is clogged with earwax. Clean the dome thoroughly or replace it with a new one.

For persistent issues, contact your hearing aid professional for assistance.
