4.1. Pre-Installation Checklist

  • Ensure your monitors are compatible with VESA 75x75mm or 100x100mm patterns.
  • Verify your desk thickness is between 0.39 inches (1 cm) and 3.15 inches (8 cm) for C-clamp or grommet mounting.
  • If using grommet mount, ensure the hole diameter is between 0.39 inches (1 cm) and 3.15 inches (8 cm).
  • Gather all included hardware and tools (Allen key provided).

4.2. Installation Methods

Figure 4: C-Clamp vs. Grommet Installation

4.2.1. C-Clamp Installation

  1. Attach the C-clamp base to the bottom of the main pole.
  2. Position the stand on the edge of your desk.
  3. Tighten the C-clamp screw until the stand is securely fastened to the desk.

4.2.2. Grommet Installation

  1. Disassemble the C-clamp components from the base if they are attached.
  2. Insert the main pole through the grommet hole in your desk.
  3. Secure the stand from underneath the desk using the grommet plate and tightening screw.

4.3. Attaching Monitors

  1. Attach the VESA plates to the back of your monitors using the provided screws. Ensure the screws are appropriate for your monitor's VESA holes.
  2. Slide the monitors (with attached VESA plates) onto the monitor arms until they click securely into place.
  3. Adjust the gas spring tension (see Section 5.1) to match the weight of your monitors for smooth movement.

5. Operating and Adjustments

The ErGear Dual Monitor Stand is designed for flexible positioning to achieve optimal ergonomic comfort.

5.1. Gas Spring Tension Adjustment

The gas spring mechanism allows for effortless height adjustment. If your monitor drifts down or springs up, adjust the tension using the included Allen key.

  • Turn clockwise for lighter monitors (to increase resistance).
  • Turn counter-clockwise for heavier monitors (to decrease resistance).

5.2. Monitor Positioning

  • Height Adjustment: Lift or lower the monitor arms along the main pole to your desired height. The gas spring will hold it in place once tension is correctly set.
  • Swivel: Rotate the monitor arms horizontally up to 180° to share your screen or adjust viewing angles.
  • Tilt: Adjust the monitor screen vertically from +90° (upward) to -45° (downward) to reduce glare and optimize viewing.
  • Rotation: Rotate the monitor 360° at the VESA plate to switch between landscape and portrait modes.

6. Maintenance

  • Regularly check all screws and connections to ensure they remain tight and secure.
  • Clean the stand with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the gas spring mechanism, as it is under high pressure.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Monitor sags or does not stay at desired height.Gas spring tension is too low for monitor weight.Increase gas spring tension by turning the adjustment screw clockwise with the Allen key.
Monitor springs up too easily or is difficult to push down.Gas spring tension is too high for monitor weight.Decrease gas spring tension by turning the adjustment screw counter-clockwise with the Allen key.
Stand is wobbly or unstable.Mounting clamp/grommet is not sufficiently tightened.Re-tighten the C-clamp or grommet mounting screws securely to the desk.
Monitors are not level.Minor misalignment during installation or adjustment.Gently adjust the monitor's position on the VESA plate or the arm's articulation points until level.
