1. Introduction
The Skytech Smart Stat IV remote control system provides wireless thermostatic and timer control for gas heating fireplaces. This system includes a remote control transmitter and a 110V AC receiver. It is designed for use with standard millivolt valves and electronic spark ignitions, offering convenient operation of your fireplace.
2. Package Contents
Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:
- Smart Stat IV Transmitter Remote Control
- Receiver Box (UL Listed 110V)
- Wall Clip for Transmitter
- Wires with Connectors (18 inch)
- AAA Batteries (2)
- Instruction Manual (this document)
3. Setup and Installation
3.1 Receiver Installation
The receiver connects to the fireplace's control system. It features a slide switch with three positions: ON, REMOTE, and OFF. The ON position manually activates the fireplace, OFF deactivates it, and REMOTE allows control via the transmitter.
3.2 Wiring for Millivolt Valves
For fireplaces with millivolt gas valves, connect the receiver using the provided wires to the TH (Thermostat) and TP (Thermopile) terminals on the gas valve. Ensure the pilot light is lit before operation.

3.3 Wiring for Electronic Spark Ignitions
For fireplaces with electronic spark ignitions, the receiver connects to the TR (Transformer) and TH (Thermostat) terminals on the electronic module. This setup typically involves a 110V/24VAC transformer.

3.4 Transmitter Battery Installation
The transmitter requires two (2) 1.5V AAA batteries. Open the battery compartment on the back of the transmitter and insert the batteries, observing the correct polarity. A low battery indicator will appear on the LCD when replacement is needed.
3.5 Pairing the Transmitter and Receiver (Learning Function)
The receiver has a learning function to synchronize with the transmitter. Consult the specific instructions provided with your receiver for the pairing procedure. Typically, this involves pressing a 'Learn' button on the receiver and then a button on the transmitter within a short timeframe. The receiver can learn up to two additional Skytech remotes.
