3. Setup (Battery Installation)

Installing a watch battery requires care and precision. If you are unsure, it is recommended to consult a professional watch repair technician.

  1. Prepare your workspace: Work on a clean, well-lit surface. Use a soft cloth to protect the watch face.
  2. Open the watch case: Carefully open the back of your watch using the appropriate watch case opener tool.
  3. Identify the old battery: Locate the existing battery and note its orientation (positive (+) side up or down).
  4. Remove the old battery: Use non-metallic tweezers or a small plastic tool to gently lift and remove the old battery. Avoid touching the watch movement with bare hands.
  5. Insert the new battery: Handle the new Murata SR1120 battery by its edges to avoid touching the flat surfaces, which can transfer oils and affect conductivity. Insert the new battery with the correct orientation, matching the old battery's position.
  6. Secure the battery: Ensure the battery is seated correctly and any retaining clips are re-engaged.
  7. Close the watch case: Carefully replace the watch case back, ensuring it is properly sealed to maintain water resistance (if applicable).

4. Operating

Once the Murata SR1120 battery is correctly installed, your watch should resume normal operation. The 1.55V silver oxide chemistry provides a stable power source for quartz watch movements.

  • Initial check: Observe the watch for a few minutes to ensure the hands are moving smoothly and the timekeeping function is active.
  • Setting the time: If necessary, set the correct time and date according to your watch's specific instructions.

5. Maintenance

Proper handling and storage can help maintain battery integrity and prevent premature discharge.

  • Storage: Store unused batteries in their original packaging in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid storing with metal objects that could cause a short circuit.
  • Disposal: When the battery is depleted, dispose of it responsibly. Many communities have battery recycling programs. Do not incinerate or mutilate batteries.

6. Troubleshooting

If your watch does not function after battery replacement, consider the following:

  • Incorrect battery orientation: Ensure the battery is inserted with the correct positive (+) and negative (-) terminals aligned.
  • Poor contact: Check that the battery is seated firmly and making proper contact with the watch's terminals. Gently clean any corrosion on the terminals if present.
  • Watch movement issue: The watch movement itself may require servicing or repair.
  • Depleted battery: Although new, a battery could be faulty or have a low charge. Try another new battery from the pack.
