Setup Instructions

  1. Unpack the Scale: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts are present: the weighing platform, the model 750 weight display, and the 10 ft (3m) indicator cable.
  2. Position the Platform: Place the 24-inch (61 cm) square weighing platform on a firm, level surface. Ensure the surface is stable and free from vibrations to guarantee accurate readings.
  3. Connect the Indicator: Connect the 10 ft (3m) indicator cable from the weighing platform to the model 750 weight display. Ensure the connection is secure.
  4. Power Supply:
    • AC Adaptor: Connect the provided AC adaptor to the indicator and then to a suitable power outlet.
    • Battery Power: For portable use, the scale can be powered by 6 AA batteries (not included). Open the battery compartment on the back of the indicator and insert the batteries, observing correct polarity.
  5. Initial Power On: Press the ON/OFF button on the indicator to power on the scale. Allow a few seconds for the display to stabilize and show "0.0".

Operating Instructions

Basic Weighing Procedure

  1. Power On: Press the ON/OFF button. Wait for the display to show "0.0".
  2. Zeroing the Scale: If the display does not show "0.0" when empty, press the ZERO button to reset it.
  3. Select Units: Press the UNITS button to toggle between pounds (lb) and kilograms (kg). The selected unit will be displayed.
  4. Weighing: Carefully assist the patient onto the center of the weighing platform. Ensure the patient remains still. The weight will be displayed on the indicator.
  5. Lock/Release: The LOCK/RELEASE button can be used to hold the displayed weight after the patient steps off, or to release the held weight.
  6. Power Off: Press the ON/OFF button again to turn off the scale when not in use.

BMI Calculation

The Detecto 6800-AC scale can calculate Body Mass Index (BMI).

  1. Weigh Patient: Follow the basic weighing procedure to obtain the patient's weight.
  2. Enter Height: Once the weight is stable, press the BMI/ENTER button. The display will prompt for height input. Use the arrow keys (UP/DOWN) to adjust the height value.
  3. Confirm Height: Press BMI/ENTER again to confirm the height. The scale will then display the calculated BMI.
