1. Product Overview
The Brydge 7.9 Keyboard is designed to enhance the functionality of your iPad Mini 4th or 5th Generation, transforming it into a versatile laptop-like device. It features a durable aluminum body, backlit keys, and a full row of iOS special function keys. The keyboard connects wirelessly via Bluetooth and offers flexible viewing angles.
Note: This product is a keyboard only and does not include the iPad tablet. It is not compatible with iPad Mini 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Generation models.
Compatibility
The Brydge 7.9 Keyboard is compatible with the following iPad Mini models:
- iPad Mini (4th Generation): Models A1538, A1550
- iPad Mini (5th Generation): Models A2124, A2125, A2126, A2133

2. Setup
2.1 Charging the Keyboard
Before initial use, fully charge your Brydge 7.9 Keyboard. Connect the provided USB charging cable to the charging port on the keyboard and to a USB power source. The charging indicator light will show the charging status.
- Red Light: Charging
- Green Light: Fully Charged
2.2 Attaching Your iPad
The Brydge 7.9 Keyboard features patented sure-grip hinges for secure attachment of your iPad. To attach:
- Open the keyboard to a 90-degree angle.
- Align your iPad with the hinges, ensuring the iPad's bottom edge slides into the hinge clips.
- Gently push the iPad down until it is securely seated in the hinges.

2.3 Bluetooth Pairing
To connect your Brydge 7.9 Keyboard to your iPad via Bluetooth:
- Turn on the Brydge keyboard by pressing the power button. The Bluetooth indicator light will flash.
- On your iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
- Ensure Bluetooth is turned On.
- Select "Brydge 7.9" from the list of available devices.
- If prompted, enter the pairing code displayed on your iPad screen using the Brydge keyboard, then press Enter.
- Once paired, the Bluetooth indicator light on the keyboard will turn solid, and "Connected" will appear next to "Brydge 7.9" on your iPad.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Adjusting Viewing Angles
The Brydge 7.9 Keyboard features versatile hinges that allow for viewing angles from 0 to 180 degrees. Adjust your iPad to the desired angle for comfortable typing, viewing, or drawing.

3.2 Using Backlit Keys
The keyboard features LED backlit keys with three adjustable brightness levels. To cycle through the brightness levels or turn the backlight off, press the dedicated backlight key (often represented by a sun icon) located on the top row of the keyboard.
3.3 iOS Special Function Keys
The top row of the Brydge 7.9 Keyboard includes dedicated iOS function keys for quick access to common iPad features. These keys allow you to control media playback, adjust volume, access search, and more.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
To clean your Brydge 7.9 Keyboard, use a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid spraying liquids directly onto the keyboard or into the ports.
4.2 Battery Information
The Brydge 7.9 Keyboard is equipped with a long-lasting battery, offering up to 12 months of use on a single charge when the backlight is not used. Frequent use of the backlight will reduce battery life. Recharge the keyboard when the battery indicator light shows low power.

5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Keyboard Not Connecting via Bluetooth
- Ensure the keyboard is turned on and fully charged.
- Verify Bluetooth is enabled on your iPad (Settings > Bluetooth).
- Forget the device on your iPad (Settings > Bluetooth > "Brydge 7.9" > "i" icon > Forget This Device) and attempt to re-pair.
- Restart both your iPad and the Brydge keyboard.
5.2 Keys Not Responding
- Check if the keyboard is properly connected via Bluetooth.
- Ensure the keyboard battery is not depleted.
- Restart the keyboard and iPad.
5.3 Backlight Not Working
- Press the backlight key multiple times to cycle through brightness levels.
- Ensure the keyboard is sufficiently charged, as low battery can disable the backlight.
