1. Introduction
The JOYO Atmosphere R-14 is a versatile digital reverb pedal designed for electric guitars, offering a wide range of atmospheric effects. This pedal features 9 distinct digital reverb types, including SPRING, CHURCH, PLATE, EKO-VERB, SHIMMER, COMET, REWIND, FOREST, and PULSE. It provides comprehensive control over MIX, DECAY, and TONE, along with a dedicated MODULATION effects depth control. A unique "TRAIL" function allows the reverb tail to naturally fade out after disengaging the effect, ensuring smooth transitions.
2. Setup
Proper setup is crucial for optimal performance and to avoid unwanted noise. Follow these steps to connect your JOYO Atmosphere R-14 pedal:
- Power Connection: Connect a DC 9V power adapter (center negative, 140mA current consumption) to the DC 9V input jack on the pedal. For best results, use a JOYO original power adapter or a reliable alternative that meets the specified power requirements.
- Instrument Connection: Connect your electric guitar to the 'INPUT' jack on the pedal using a standard 1/4-inch mono instrument cable.
- Amplifier Connection: Connect the 'OUTPUT' jack of the pedal to your amplifier's input using a standard 1/4-inch mono instrument cable.
- Ensure Full Connection: Before playing, verify that all cables are securely connected between your guitar, the pedal, and the amplifier. The pedal supports mono cables only; stereo or balanced signals are not supported.

3. Controls and Features
The JOYO Atmosphere R-14 pedal offers intuitive controls for shaping your reverb sound:
- DECAY Knob: Controls the length of the reverb tail. Turn clockwise for longer decay, counter-clockwise for shorter decay.
- MIX Knob: Adjusts the blend between the dry (unaffected) and wet (reverb) signals. Turn clockwise for more reverb effect, counter-clockwise for less.
- TONE Knob: Controls the brightness or darkness of the reverb. Turn clockwise for a brighter, more present reverb, counter-clockwise for a darker, warmer tone.
- MOD Knob: Adjusts the depth of the modulation effect applied to the reverb. This control is specifically for reverb types that include modulation.
- TYPE Selector: A rotary switch to select one of the 9 digital reverb types: SPRING, CHURCH, PLATE, EKO-VERB, SHIMMER, COMET, REWIND, FOREST, and PULSE.
- TRAIL Switch (OFF/ON): Engages or disengages the "TRAIL" function. When ON, the reverb tail will naturally decay after the pedal is bypassed, creating a more seamless transition. When OFF, the reverb cuts off immediately upon bypass.
- LED Light Control Switch (SYNC/ALWAYS/OFF): This switch, located on the back of the pedal, controls the behavior of the LED ambient lights.
- SYNC mode: All LEDs (side & top) synchronize with footswitch operation.
- ALWAYS mode: Side LEDs remain continuously on, top LED operates with footswitch.
- OFF mode: Side LEDs remain deactivated, top LED operates with footswitch.

4. Operating Instructions
To operate your JOYO Atmosphere R-14 pedal, follow these general guidelines:
- Power On: Once connected, the pedal will power on automatically. The LED indicator will illuminate.
- Select Reverb Type: Use the TYPE selector knob to choose your desired reverb algorithm (e.g., Spring, Church, Plate).
- Adjust Reverb Parameters: Use the DECAY, MIX, TONE, and MOD knobs to fine-tune the selected reverb effect to your preference. Experiment with different settings to discover the full range of sounds.
- Engage/Bypass Effect: Press the footswitch to engage the reverb effect. The LED indicator will change color or state to show the effect is active. Press the footswitch again to bypass the effect.
- Utilize TRAIL Function: If you desire a natural decay of the reverb tail after bypassing, set the TRAIL switch to 'ON'.

6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your JOYO Atmosphere R-14 pedal, consider the following:
- No Sound: Ensure all cables are securely connected. Check that your guitar, pedal, and amplifier are all powered on and their volume controls are appropriately set. Verify the pedal's power supply meets the DC 9V, center negative, 140mA requirements.
- Unwanted Noise/Hum: This can often be caused by an incompatible or insufficient power supply. Use a high-quality, regulated 9V DC (center negative) power supply. Ensure all connections are tight and that you are using mono instrument cables.
- Effect Not Engaging: Check the footswitch for proper operation. Ensure the pedal is receiving power (LED should be on).
- Effect Too Weak/Strong: Adjust the MIX knob to control the blend of the effect. Also, check the DECAY, TONE, and MOD knobs to ensure they are not set to extreme positions that might diminish the perceived effect.
