TrolMaster MBS-TH Temp/Humidity/Light Sensor User Manual

For Hydro-X Control System

1. Introduction

The TrolMaster MBS-TH is a 3-in-1 sensor designed to measure temperature, humidity, and light intensity. It serves as a replacement or backup sensor for the TrolMaster Hydro-X environmental control system. This sensor is crucial for maintaining optimal environmental conditions in controlled growing environments by providing accurate data to the Hydro-X controller.

2. Package Contents

  • MBS-TH Sensor
  • Wiring
  • Splitter Plug

3. Setup and Installation

The MBS-TH sensor is designed for plug-and-play installation with the TrolMaster Hydro-X system.

  1. Unpack the Sensor: Carefully remove the MBS-TH sensor, wiring, and splitter plug from its packaging.
  2. Connect to Hydro-X: Locate an available port on your Hydro-X controller or an existing splitter. Connect the MBS-TH sensor's wiring to the designated port. If using a splitter, ensure it is properly connected to the Hydro-X system.
  3. Sensor Placement: Position the sensor in the area where you need to monitor temperature, humidity, and light. Ensure it is not directly exposed to water, excessive heat sources, or direct airflow from fans, which could lead to inaccurate readings. For optimal results, place the sensor at canopy level or in the center of the environment being monitored.
  4. Secure Placement: Use appropriate methods to secure the sensor in place, preventing it from swinging or falling.

4. Operating the Sensor

Once connected to the Hydro-X system, the MBS-TH sensor will automatically begin transmitting data. The Hydro-X controller uses this data to manage connected devices and maintain your desired environmental parameters.

  • Monitoring: View real-time temperature, humidity, and light readings directly on your Hydro-X controller's display.
  • Control: The Hydro-X system will use the sensor data to activate or deactivate environmental control devices (e.g., fans, humidifiers, lights) based on your programmed settings.
  • Calibration: Refer to your Hydro-X controller's manual for specific instructions on calibrating sensors if adjustments are needed.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the accuracy and longevity of your MBS-TH sensor.

  • Cleaning: Periodically inspect the sensor for dust or debris accumulation. Gently clean the sensor housing with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Avoid Moisture: While the sensor is designed for environmental monitoring, avoid direct contact with water or high-pressure sprays.
  • Cable Inspection: Check the sensor cable and connections regularly for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MBS-TH sensor, consider the following:

  • Sensor Not Detected:
    • Ensure the sensor cable is securely plugged into the Hydro-X controller or splitter.
    • Check if the Hydro-X system is powered on.
    • Try connecting the sensor to a different port or splitter to rule out a faulty connection point.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Verify the sensor's placement. It should be away from direct heat, cold drafts, or high humidity sources that do not represent the overall environment.
    • Clean the sensor as described in the Maintenance section.
    • If readings are consistently off, the sensor may require calibration through the Hydro-X controller interface. Refer to the Hydro-X manual for calibration procedures.
  • Intermittent Readings:
    • Inspect the cable for any physical damage or kinks.
    • Ensure all connections are firm and not loose.
