1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your Powertech 500W (1500W Peak) Modified Sinewave Inverter. This device converts 12V DC power from a battery into 240V AC power, suitable for operating various small to medium electronic devices and appliances. Please read this manual thoroughly before use and retain it for future reference.
2. Safety Instructions
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or damage to the inverter or connected devices.
- Ensure the inverter is connected to a 12V DC power source only. Connecting to other voltages may cause damage.
- Always connect the inverter to the battery using the supplied leads with alligator clips. Ensure correct polarity: positive (+) to positive, negative (-) to negative. Reverse polarity will damage the unit.
- Do not exceed the inverter's continuous power rating of 500W. While it supports a 1500W surge for startup, prolonged operation above 500W can cause overheating and damage.
- Keep the inverter in a well-ventilated area. Do not block ventilation openings.
- Avoid exposing the inverter to moisture, rain, or extreme temperatures.
- Do not open the inverter casing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
- Disconnect the inverter from the battery before performing any maintenance or cleaning.
- Keep children away from the inverter and connected devices.

3.1 Front Panel

Figure 3.2: Close-up of the inverter's front panel.
- Power/Fault Indicators: Green light indicates normal operation; Red light indicates a fault (e.g., overload, low battery).
- ON/OFF Switch: Toggles the inverter's power.
- USB Port: Provides 5V DC power for charging USB-compatible devices.
- 240V AC Outlet: Standard mains outlet for connecting AC-powered devices.
3.2 Rear Panel

- Battery Terminals (+ and -): Connect to a 12V DC battery using the supplied alligator clips.
- Cooling Vents: Ensure these are unobstructed for proper heat dissipation.
4. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your inverter:
- Prepare the Battery: Ensure your 12V DC battery is fully charged and in a well-ventilated area.
- Connect to Battery:
- Ensure the inverter's ON/OFF switch is in the "OFF" position.
- Connect the red alligator clip lead to the positive (+) terminal of the inverter and then to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
- Connect the black alligator clip lead to the negative (-) terminal of the inverter and then to the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
- IMPORTANT: Double-check polarity before making connections. Reverse polarity will cause severe damage.
- Position the Inverter: Place the inverter on a stable, flat surface, ensuring adequate ventilation around the unit. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and flammable materials.
5. Operating Instructions
Once the inverter is properly set up, you can begin operation:
- Power On: Flip the ON/OFF switch on the front panel to the "ON" position. The green Power indicator light should illuminate, indicating the inverter is operational.
- Connect AC Devices: Plug your 240V AC devices into the AC outlet on the front panel. Ensure the total continuous power draw of your devices does not exceed 500W. For devices with high startup current (e.g., motors), the inverter can handle up to 1500W surge for a brief period.
- Use USB Port: Plug your USB-compatible devices into the USB port for charging.
- Monitor Indicators:
- Green Light: Normal operation.
- Red Light: Indicates a fault condition (e.g., overload, low battery, overheating). The inverter will typically shut down automatically in such cases to protect itself and the battery.
- Power Off: When finished, first disconnect all devices from the inverter, then flip the ON/OFF switch to the "OFF" position. Finally, disconnect the inverter from the battery.
6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your inverter:
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the inverter with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Ventilation: Regularly check that the cooling vents are free from dust and debris to ensure proper airflow. Blocked vents can lead to overheating.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the inverter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures (-30°C to 70°C). Ensure it is disconnected from the battery.
- Battery Care: Maintain your 12V battery according to its manufacturer's instructions. A well-maintained battery is crucial for inverter performance.
