Product Features
The SANSUI TU-α707i Digital Synthesizer FM/AM Tuner incorporates advanced technologies for superior audio reception and quality:
- Equipped with SANSUI's unique Super Linear System digital synthesizer FM/AM tuner.
- Features SANSUI's unique Super Linear Receiving Circuit (SLRC), achieving both high-sensitivity reception for weak signals and effective interference rejection for strong signals.
- The IF section includes a WIDE/NARROW bandwidth switching mechanism. WIDE mode provides high-quality reception with low distortion, while NARROW mode minimizes adjacent station interference in strong signal areas, ensuring reliable reception of the desired station.
- Incorporates the newly developed Super Linear Detector Circuit (SLDC) for linear detection of audio signals from FM waves.
- The MPX section utilizes SANSUI's original digital decoder SLDD IV. This digital processing method avoids harmonic components that can cause adjacent station demodulation, precisely stereo demodulating only the desired station's signal.
- The power supply section employs a multi-power supply circuit that independently supplies power to the audio, RF, and control systems, enhancing stability and performance.
- Equipped with A/B two-system antenna inputs and a switching function. This allows for adaptation to the arrival direction of radio waves from different FM stations, achieving optimal reception.
- Features a direct input function for tuning by entering the desired station's frequency using the 10-key pad. Includes one-touch preset memory, memory scan for quickly selecting preset stations, and a LAST-2 memory function for programmed recording of two broadcast stations.

Setup
1. Antenna Connection
Connect your FM and AM antennas to the corresponding terminals on the rear panel of the tuner. The TU-α707i features two FM antenna inputs (A and B) to optimize reception from different directions. Use a 75Ω coaxial cable for FM antenna connections. For AM, connect the supplied loop antenna or an external AM antenna.
2. Audio Output Connection
Connect the audio output jacks (RCA L/R) of the TU-α707i to an available input on your amplifier or receiver (e.g., 'Tuner' or 'Aux' input) using appropriate RCA audio cables.
3. Power Connection
Plug the power cord into an AC wall outlet. Ensure the voltage matches the specifications of the unit.
Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off
Press the POWER button on the front panel to turn the unit on or off.
2. Selecting FM/AM Band
Press the FM or AM button to select the desired broadcasting band.
3. Tuning to Stations
- Direct Input: Use the 10-key pad to directly enter the frequency of the desired station. Press the 'Enter' button to confirm.
- Preset Memory: The tuner supports 10 preset stations for both FM and AM. To recall a preset station, press the corresponding preset number button.
- Memory Scan: Activate the Memory Scan function to quickly cycle through and listen to your preset stations.
- Manual Tuning: Use the tuning knob or up/down arrow buttons to manually adjust the frequency.
4. FM Bandwidth Selection (WIDE/NARROW)
For FM reception, press the WIDE/NARROW button to switch between bandwidth modes. Use WIDE for optimal sound quality in strong signal areas and NARROW to reduce interference from adjacent stations in crowded broadcast environments.
5. Antenna A/B Switching
If you have connected two FM antennas, use the A/B antenna selector button to switch between them. Select the antenna that provides the best reception for the current station.
6. LAST-2 Memory Function
The LAST-2 memory function allows you to program and quickly switch between two specific broadcast stations, useful for timed recording with an external recorder.
Maintenance
Cleaning the Unit
To clean the exterior of the tuner, first disconnect the power cord. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe surfaces. For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the finish. Do not allow liquids to enter the unit.
General Care
Ensure the unit is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Avoid exposing the tuner to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, or high humidity. Regularly check cable connections to ensure they are secure.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your SANSUI TU-α707i, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power | Power cord disconnected; Power outlet faulty | Check power cord connection; Try a different outlet |
| No sound | Audio cables disconnected; Amplifier input not selected; Tuner volume too low (if applicable) | Check audio cable connections; Select correct input on amplifier; Adjust amplifier volume |
| Poor FM/AM reception | Antenna not connected or poorly positioned; Interference; Incorrect bandwidth selected | Connect/adjust antenna position; Try switching FM antenna A/B; Switch FM bandwidth (WIDE/NARROW); Move unit away from other electronic devices |
| Cannot tune to a specific station | Incorrect frequency entered; Station out of range | Verify frequency input; Try manual tuning; Check local broadcast availability |
If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact qualified service personnel.
