3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove the NAS from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage during transit. Ensure all components listed in the packing list are present.

3.2 Hardware Installation (Drives and Memory)

The QNAP TVS-473e requires installation of hard drives and memory upgrades, which are included separately and not pre-installed. This process involves opening the chassis and securing the components.

  1. Hard Drive Installation:
    • Locate the four front-accessible drive bays.
    • Slide out the drive trays.
    • Mount your 3.5-inch SATA HDDs into the trays using the provided screws.
    • Slide the trays back into the NAS until they click into place.
  2. M.2 SSD Installation:
    • Refer to the quick installation guide for instructions on accessing the internal M.2 slots.
    • Insert the M.2 SSDs into the designated slots and secure them.

  • Power: Connect the power adapter to the NAS and then to a power outlet.

3.4 Initial Power On and Setup Wizard

Press the power button on the front of the NAS. The system will boot up. Follow the on-screen instructions on a connected display or use the QNAP Qfinder Pro utility on a networked computer to locate and initialize your NAS. The setup wizard will guide you through creating storage pools, volumes, and initial user accounts.

4.1 Accessing QTS

Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your NAS (found via Qfinder Pro or the NAS LCD panel). Log in with your administrator credentials.

6. Troubleshooting
