3. Components
The Bialetti New Venus coffee maker consists of three main parts:
- Base (Water Chamber): The lower part where water is filled.
- Filter Funnel: Sits inside the base and holds the ground coffee.
- Collector (Upper Chamber): The top part where the brewed coffee collects. This includes the lid and handle.

4. Setup
4.1 Initial Cleaning
Before first use, disassemble the coffee maker and wash all parts with warm water without soap. Brew 2-3 batches of coffee and discard them to season the pot and remove any manufacturing residues. This process helps to ensure the best flavor for your coffee.
4.2 Assembly
Ensure all parts are clean and dry before assembly. Place the filter funnel into the base, ensuring it sits correctly. The gasket and filter plate should be securely in place within the upper chamber.
5. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to brew coffee with your Bialetti New Venus:
- Fill the Base with Water: Unscrew the upper chamber from the base. Fill the base with cold water up to the level of the safety valve. Do not overfill.

Image 5.1: Step 1 - Adding water.
- Add Ground Coffee: Insert the filter funnel into the base. Fill the funnel with medium-fine ground coffee. Do not tamp the coffee. Level the coffee gently without pressing it down. Ensure no coffee grounds are on the edge of the funnel or the rim of the base.

Image 5.2: Step 2 - Adding coffee grounds.
- Assemble and Heat: Screw the upper chamber firmly onto the base. Place the coffee maker on a stovetop burner (induction, gas, electric, or ceramic). Use a medium heat setting.

Image 5.3: Step 3 - Heating the coffee maker.
- Brewing: As the water heats, pressure builds, forcing water up through the coffee grounds and into the upper chamber. You will hear a gurgling sound as the coffee brews.
- Serve: Once the upper chamber is full and the gurgling stops, remove the coffee maker from the heat immediately to prevent over-extraction. Pour and enjoy your freshly brewed coffee.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper cleaning and maintenance ensure the longevity of your coffee maker and the quality of your coffee.
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, allow the coffee maker to cool completely. Disassemble all parts and rinse them thoroughly with warm water. Do not use detergents or abrasive materials, as these can damage the aluminum and affect the coffee flavor.
- Drying: Dry all components completely before reassembling or storing to prevent water spots and corrosion.
- Gasket and Filter: Periodically check the rubber gasket and filter plate for wear and tear. Replace them if they appear brittle, cracked, or damaged to maintain proper pressure and prevent leaks.
- Storage: Store the disassembled coffee maker in a dry place.
- Do NOT use a Dishwasher: Washing in a dishwasher can damage the coffee maker's finish and internal components, and may leave a metallic taste in your coffee.
7. Troubleshooting
- Coffee Not Brewing / Slow Brewing:
- Ensure the water level is below the safety valve.
- Check that the coffee grounds are not too fine, which can block the filter.
- Verify that the upper and lower chambers are screwed together tightly.
- Ensure the heat source is adequate and consistent.
- Weak Coffee:
- Use fresh, medium-fine ground coffee.
- Ensure the filter funnel is filled completely but not tamped.
- Do not remove from heat too early; allow the brewing process to complete.
- Bitter Coffee:
- Remove the coffee maker from heat as soon as the brewing stops to prevent over-extraction.
- Ensure the heat setting is not too high, which can burn the coffee.
- Clean the coffee maker thoroughly after each use to prevent residue buildup.
- Leaking from the Middle:
- Tighten the upper and lower chambers more securely.
- Check the rubber gasket for damage or improper seating. Replace if necessary.
- Ensure no coffee grounds are trapped on the rim where the two parts screw together.
