3. Setup
3.1. Installation
The COOLOUS Smart Door Lock is designed for easy DIY installation with a Philips screwdriver. No extra drilling or wiring is typically required for standard door setups. Ensure your door thickness and backset are compatible before beginning.
- Remove your existing door hardware.
- Install the mortise lock body into the door edge.
- Attach the exterior handle assembly, ensuring the spindle aligns correctly.
- Install the interior handle assembly, connecting any necessary cables.
- Secure all components with the provided screws.
- Install the strike plate on the door frame.
- Insert 4 AA batteries into the battery box (batteries not included).
- Test the lock's mechanical function with the physical key.

3.2. App Setup and Initial Pairing
To utilize the smart features, download the COOLOUS app (or compatible smart home app) from your device's app store. Follow the in-app instructions to pair your lock via Bluetooth. For remote control and voice assistant integration (e.g., Alexa), an optional COOLOUS WiFi Gateway (sold separately) is required.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Unlocking the Door
- Fingerprint: Place your registered finger on the fingerprint reader. The lock will unlock if the fingerprint is recognized.
- Passcode: Enter your registered passcode on the touch keypad, then press '#'. The lock will unlock if the passcode is correct.
- Smartphone App: Open the COOLOUS app, ensure Bluetooth is enabled (or WiFi Gateway is connected), and tap the unlock button.
- Physical Key: Insert the physical key into the mechanical key hole and turn to unlock.
4.2. Locking the Door
- Auto-Lock: The lock will automatically engage after a preset time (configurable in the app) once the door is closed.
- Manual Lock: From the exterior, press and hold the '#' key on the keypad for 2 seconds. From the interior, turn the thumb-turn knob to the locked position.
4.3. User Management (via App)
The app allows for comprehensive user management:
- Adding Users: Register new fingerprints or create new passcodes for family members or trusted individuals.
- Temporary Passcodes: Generate one-time, periodic, or time-limited passcodes for guests or service providers.
- Access Logs: View real-time access logs to monitor who enters and exits your property.
- Deleting Users: Remove access for individuals as needed.

5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the fingerprint reader and touch keypad with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust, dirt, and oil residue. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: When the low battery alarm sounds, replace all four AA batteries promptly. Use high-quality alkaline batteries for optimal performance.
- Mechanical Check: Periodically check that all screws are tight and the handle operates smoothly. Lubricate moving parts if necessary.
